836265d316 wifi: remove iw_public_data from struct net_device
Given the previous patches, we no longer need the
struct iw_public_data etc., it's only used by the
old Intel drivers (and ps3_gelic creates it but
then doesn't use it). Remove all of that, including
the pointer in struct net_device.

57be3d3562 wifi: radiotap: Avoid -Wflex-array-member-not-at-end warnings
-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end was introduced in GCC-14, and we are
getting ready to enable it, globally.

So, in order to avoid ending up with a flexible-array member in the
middle of multiple other structs, we use the `__struct_group()`
helper to create a new tagged `struct ieee80211_radiotap_header_fixed`.
This structure groups together all the members of the flexible
`struct ieee80211_radiotap_header` except the flexible array.

As a result, the array is effectively separated from the rest of the
members without modifying the memory layout of the flexible structure.
We then change the type of the middle struct members currently causing
trouble from `struct ieee80211_radiotap_header` to `struct
ieee80211_radiotap_header_fixed`.

We also want to ensure that in case new members need to be added to the
flexible structure, they are always included within the newly created
tagged struct. For this, we use `static_assert()`. This ensures that the
memory layout for both the flexible structure and the new tagged struct
is the same after any changes.

This approach avoids having to implement `struct ieee80211_radiotap_header_fixed`
as a completely separate structure, thus preventing having to maintain
two independent but basically identical structures, closing the door
to potential bugs in the future.

So, with these changes, fix the following warnings:

3a3d1afd25 wifi: lib80211: Handle const struct lib80211_crypto_ops in lib80211
lib80211_register_crypto_ops() and lib80211_unregister_crypto_ops() don't
modify their "struct lib80211_crypto_ops *ops" argument. So, it can be
declared as const.

Doing so, some adjustments are needed to also constify some date in
"struct lib80211_crypt_data", "struct lib80211_crypto_alg" and the
return value of lib80211_get_crypto_ops().

8890b9bca3 wifi: ipw2x00: replace deprecated strncpy with strscpy_pad
strncpy() is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings
[1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string
interfaces.

`extra` is intended to be NUL-terminated which is evident by the manual
assignment of a NUL-byte as well as its immediate usage with strlen().

Moreover, many of these getters and setters are NUL-padding buffers with
memset():

... let's maintain this behavior and NUL-pad our destination buffer.

Considering the above, a suitable replacement is `strscpy_pad` due to
the fact that it guarantees both NUL-termination and NUL-padding on the
destination buffer.

To be clear, there is no bug in the current implementation as
MAX_WX_STRING is much larger than the size of the string literals being
copied from. Also, strncpy() does NUL-pad the destination buffer and
using strscpy_pad() simply matches that behavior. All in all, there
should be no functional change but we are one step closer to eliminating
usage of strncpy().

Do note that we cannot use the more idiomatic strscpy invocation of
(dest, src, sizeof(dest)) as the destination buffer cannot have its size
determined at compile time. So, let's stick with (dest, src, LEN).

357be7ebba wifi: ipw2x00: Annotate struct libipw_txb with __counted_by
Prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang of the __counted_by
attribute. Flexible array members annotated with __counted_by can have
their accesses bounds-checked at run-time checking via CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS
(for array indexing) and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE (for strcpy/memcpy-family
functions).

As found with Coccinelle[1], add __counted_by for struct libipw_txb.

8767774946 wifi: ipw2x00: refactor to use kstrtoul
The current implementation seems to reinvent what `kstrtoul` already does
in terms of functionality and error handling. Remove uses of `simple_strtoul()`
in favor of `kstrtoul()`.

There is the following note at `lib/vsprintf.c:simple_strtoull()` which
further backs this change:
| * This function has caveats. Please use kstrtoull (or kstrtoul) instead.

And here, simple_str* are explicitly deprecated [3].

This patch also removes an instance of the deprecated `strncpy` which helps [2].

a23c82e006 wifi: ipw2x00: convert ipw_fw_error->elem to flexible array[]
The ipw_fw_error structure contains a payload[] flexible array as well as
two pointers to this array area, ->elem, and ->log. The total size of the
allocated structure is computed without use of the <linux/overflow.h>
macros.

There's no reason to keep both a payload[] and an extra pointer to both the
elem and log members. Convert the elem pointer member into the flexible
array member, removing payload.

Fix the allocation of the ipw_fw_error structure to use size_add(),
struct_size(), and array_size() to compute the allocation. This ensures
that any overflow saturates at SIZE_MAX rather than overflowing and
potentially allowing an undersized allocation.

Before the structure change, the layout of ipw_fw_error was:

In the error path of ipw_wdev_init(), exception value is returned, and
the memory applied for in the function is not released. Also the memory

45fc6d7461 wifi: ipw2x00: don't call dev_kfree_skb() under spin_lock_irqsave()
It is not allowed to call kfree_skb() or consume_skb() from hardware
interrupt context or with hardware interrupts being disabled.

It should use dev_kfree_skb_irq() or dev_consume_skb_irq() instead.
The difference between them is free reason, dev_kfree_skb_irq() means
the SKB is dropped in error and dev_consume_skb_irq() means the SKB
is consumed in normal.

In this case, dev_kfree_skb() is called to free and drop the SKB when
it's reset, so replace it with dev_kfree_skb_irq(). Compile tested
only.

In preparation for FORTIFY_SOURCE performing compile-time and run-time
field bounds checking for memcpy(), memmove(), and memset(), avoid
intentionally writing across neighboring fields.

libipw_read_qos_param_element() copies a struct libipw_info_element
into a struct libipw_qos_information_element, but is actually wanting to
copy into the larger struct libipw_qos_parameter_info (the contents of
ac_params_record[] is later examined). Refactor the routine to perform
centralized checks, and copy the entire contents directly (since the id
and len members match the elementID and length members):

6f78f4a41e ipw2x00: Use struct_size helper instead of open-coded arithmetic
Dynamic size calculations (especially multiplication) should not be
performed in memory allocator function arguments due to the risk of them
overflowing. This could lead to values wrapping around and a smaller
allocation being made than the caller was expecting. Using those
allocations could lead to linear overflows of heap memory and other
misbehaviors.

To avoid this scenario, use the struct_size helper.

e4ff7d6b8c net: ipw2x00,iwlegacy,iwlwifi: Remove in_interrupt() from debug macros
The usage of in_interrupt() in non-core code is phased out.

The debugging macros in these drivers use in_interrupt() to print 'I' or
'U' depending on the return value of in_interrupt(). While 'U' is confusing
at best and 'I' is not really describing the actual context (hard interupt,
soft interrupt, bottom half disabled section) these debug macros originate
from the pre ftrace kernel era and their value today is questionable. They
probably should be removed completely.

The macros weere added initially for ipw2100 and then spreaded when the
driver was forked.

Remove the in_interrupt() usage at least..

With legacy PM, drivers themselves were responsible for managing the
device's power states and takes care of register states.

After upgrading to the generic structure, PCI core will take care of
required tasks and drivers should do only device-specific operations.

814db61adb ipw2100: use generic power management
With legacy PM, drivers themselves were responsible for managing the
device's power states and takes care of register states.

After upgrading to the generic structure, PCI core will take care of
required tasks and drivers should do only device-specific operations.

The driver was invoking PCI helper functions like pci_save/restore_state(),
pci_enable/disable_device() and pci_set_power_state(), which is not
recommended.

Compile-tested only.
