There is a scenario where a large number of discard commands are issued when the iscsi initiator connects to the target and then performs a session rescan operation. There is a time window, most of the commands are in UNMAP mode, and some discard commands become WRITE SAME with UNMAP. The discard mode has been negotiated during the SCSI probe. If the mode is temporarily changed from UNMAP to WRITE SAME with UNMAP, an I/O ERROR may occur because the target may not implement WRITE SAME with UNMAP. Keep the discard mode stable to fix this issue. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
