drm/connector: hdmi: Add Broadcast RGB property
The i915 driver has a property to force the RGB range of an HDMI output.
The vc4 driver then implemented the same property with the same
semantics. KWin has support for it, and a PR for mutter is also there to
support it.

Both drivers implementing the same property with the same semantics,
plus the userspace having support for it, is proof enough that it's
pretty much a de-facto standard now and we can provide helpers for it.

Let's plumb it into the newly created HDMI connector.

drm/doc: Remove unused Broadcast RGB Property
The Broadcast RGB property has been documented as three separate entries
so far, each with a different set of values.

The first one is pretty much the generic one: it's used by i915 and vc4,
and is the one used by all the compositors.

The second one is used by the gma500 driver, and is a subset of the
first one: it can have the values "Full" or "Limited 16:235", but lack
the "Automatic" value.

The third one however isn't used by any driver and documents the values
"off", "auto" and "on".

It's unclear where the last one comes from. It was first documented in
commit 6c6a3996f2 ("Documentation: drm: describing drm properties
exposed by various drivers") which adds a number of properties used by
drivers, but without mentioning which driver was using what property.

Grepping at the 6c6a3996f2 commit however, it looks like no driver is
actually using it, and a quick look at the entire kernel history doesn't
show any match either.

At the time though, gma500 had an "audio" property used right next to
Broadcast RGB that did have the "off", "auto" and "on" values in the
same order.

As such, it was probably a copy/paste or scripting error back then, and
there's never been such property used in the kernel.

Either way, it certainly hasn't been used in a decade or two so we can
just get rid of it.

188ced1e0f drm/xe/client: Print runtime to fdinfo
Print the accumulated runtime for client when printing fdinfo.
Each time a query is done it first does 2 things:

1) loop through all the exec queues for the current client and
accumulate the runtime, per engine class. CTX_TIMESTAMP is used for
that, being read from the context image.

2) Read a "GPU timestamp" that can be used for considering "how much GPU
time has passed" and that has the same unit/refclock as the one
recording the runtime. RING_TIMESTAMP is used for that via MMIO.

Since for all current platforms RING_TIMESTAMP follows the same
refclock, just read it once, using any first engine available.

This is exported to userspace as 2 numbers in fdinfo:

	drm-cycles-<class>: <RUNTIME>
	drm-total-cycles-<class>: <TIMESTAMP>

Userspace is expected to collect at least 2 samples, which allows to
know the client engine busyness as per:

		    RUNTIME1 - RUNTIME0
	busyness = ---------------------
			  T1 - T0

Since drm-cycles-<class> always starts at 0, it's also possible to know
if and engine was ever used by a client.

It's expected that userspace will read any 2 samples every few seconds.
Given the update frequency of the counters involved and that
CTX_TIMESTAMP is 32-bits, the counter for each exec_queue can wrap
around (assuming 100% utilization) after ~200s. The wraparound is not
perceived by userspace since it's just accumulated for all the
exec_queues in a 64-bit counter) but the measurement will not be
accurate if the samples are too far apart.

This could be mitigated by adding a workqueue to accumulate the counters
every so often, but it's additional complexity for something that is
done already by userspace every few seconds in tools like gputop (from
igt), htop, nvtop, etc, with none of them really defaulting to 1 sample
per minute or more.

966e397e4f drm/mipi-dsi: Introduce mipi_dsi_*_write_seq_multi()
The current mipi_dsi_*_write_seq() macros are non-intutitive because
they contain a hidden "return" statement that will return out of the
_caller_ of the macro. Let's mark them as deprecated and instead
introduce some new macros that are more intuitive.

These new macros are less optimal when an error occurs but should
behave more optimally when there is no error. Specifically these new
macros cause smaller code to get generated and the code size savings
(less to fetch from RAM, less cache space used, less RAM used) are
important. Since the error case isn't something we need to optimize
for and these new macros are easier to understand and more flexible,
they should be used.

After converting to use these new functions, one example shows some
nice savings while also being easier to understand.

The function descriptions are optional and have not yet been added to

The proper documentation will be added in a future patch.

7fb8af6798 drm: deprecate driver date
The driver date serves no useful purpose, because it's hardly ever
updated. The information is misleading at best.

As described in Documentation/gpu/drm-internals.rst:

The driver date, formatted as YYYYMMDD, is meant to identify the date
of the latest modification to the driver. However, as most drivers
fail to update it, its value is mostly useless. The DRM core prints it
to the kernel log at initialization time and passes it to userspace
  through the DRM_IOCTL_VERSION ioctl.

Stop printing the driver date at init, and start returning the empty
string "" as driver date through the DRM_IOCTL_VERSION ioctl.

The driver date initialization in drivers and the struct drm_driver date
member can be removed in follow-up.

765425f598 drm/i915/display: add support for DMC wakelocks
In order to reduce the DC5->DC2 restore time, wakelocks have been
introduced in DMC so the driver can tell it when registers and other
memory areas are going to be accessed and keep their respective blocks
awake.

Implement this in the driver by adding the concept of DMC wakelocks.
When the driver needs to access memory which lies inside pre-defined
ranges, it will tell DMC to set the wakelock, access the memory, then
wait for a while and clear the wakelock.

The wakelock state is protected in the driver with spinlocks to
prevent concurrency issues.

bf9fb17c66 drm/panic: Add a drm panic handler
This module displays a user friendly message when a kernel panic
occurs. It currently doesn't contain any debug information,
but that can be added later.

v2
 * Use get_scanout_buffer() instead of the drm client API.
  (Thomas Zimmermann)
 * Add the panic reason to the panic message (Nerdopolis)
 * Add an exclamation mark (Nerdopolis)

v3
 * Rework the drawing functions, to write the pixels line by line and
to use the drm conversion helper to support other formats.
 (Thomas Zimmermann)

v4
 * Use drm_fb_r1_to_32bit for fonts (Thomas Zimmermann)
 * Remove the default y to DRM_PANIC config option (Thomas Zimmermann)
 * Add foreground/background color config option
 * Fix the bottom lines not painted if the framebuffer height
is not a multiple of the font height.
 * Automatically register the device to drm_panic, if the function
   get_scanout_buffer exists. (Thomas Zimmermann)

v5
 * Change the drawing API, use drm_fb_blit_from_r1() to draw the font.
 * Also add drm_fb_fill() to fill area with background color.
 * Add draw_pixel_xy() API for drivers that can't provide a linear buffer.
 * Add a flush() callback for drivers that needs to synchronize the buffer.
 * Add a void *private field, so drivers can pass private data to
   draw_pixel_xy() and flush().

v6
 * Fix sparse warning for panic_msg and logo.

v7
 * Add select DRM_KMS_HELPER for the color conversion functions.

v8
 * Register directly each plane to the panic notifier (Sima)
 * Add raw_spinlock to properly handle concurrency (Sima)
 * Register plane instead of device, to avoid looping through plane
   list, and simplify code.
 * Replace get_scanout_buffer() logic with drm_panic_set_buffer()
  (Thomas Zimmermann)
 * Removed the draw_pixel_xy() API, will see later if it can be added back.

v9
 * Revert to using get_scanout_buffer() (Sima)
 * Move get_scanout_buffer() and panic_flush() to the plane helper
   functions (Thomas Zimmermann)
 * Register all planes with get_scanout_buffer() to the panic notifier
 * Use drm_panic_lock() to protect against race (Sima)

v10
 * Move blit and fill functions back in drm_panic (Thomas Zimmermann).
 * Simplify the text drawing functions.
 * Use kmsg_dumper instead of panic_notifier (Sima).

v12
 * Use array for map and pitch in struct drm_scanout_buffer
to support multi-planar format later. (Thomas Zimmermann)
 * Better indent struct drm_scanout_buffer declaration. (Thomas Zimmermann)

b12f3ea7c1 drm/panfrost: Replace fdinfo's profiling debugfs knob with sysfs

0f25e493a2 drm/panthor: Add uAPI
Panthor follows the lead of other recently submitted drivers with
ioctls allowing us to support modern Vulkan features, like sparse memory
binding:

- Pretty standard GEM management ioctls (BO_CREATE and BO_MMAP_OFFSET),
with the 'exclusive-VM' bit to speed-up BO reservation on job submission
- VM management ioctls (VM_CREATE, VM_DESTROY and VM_BIND). The VM_BIND
ioctl is loosely based on the Xe model, and can handle both
  asynchronous and synchronous requests
- GPU execution context creation/destruction, tiler heap context creation
and job submission. Those ioctls reflect how the hardware/scheduler
works and are thus driver specific.

We also have a way to expose IO regions, such that the usermode driver
can directly access specific/well-isolate registers, like the
LATEST_FLUSH register used to implement cache-flush reduction.

This uAPI intentionally keeps usermode queues out of the scope, which
explains why doorbell registers and command stream ring-buffers are not
directly exposed to userspace.

v6:
- Add Maxime's and Heiko's acks

v5:
- Fix typo
- Add Liviu's R-b

v4:
- Add a VM_GET_STATE ioctl
- Fix doc
- Expose the CORE_FEATURES register so we can deal with variants in the
  UMD
- Add Steve's R-b

v3:
- Add the concept of sync-only VM operation
- Fix support for 32-bit userspace
- Rework drm_panthor_vm_create to pass the user VA size instead of
the kernel VA size (suggested by Robin Murphy)
- Typo fixes
- Explicitly cast enums with top bit set to avoid compiler warnings in
  -pedantic mode.
- Drop property core_group_count as it can be easily calculated by the
number of bits set in l2_present.

484ecffac9 drm/xe/huc: Extract version and binary offset from new HuC headers
The GSC-enabled HuC binary starts with a GSC header, which is followed
by the legacy-style CSS header and the binary itself. We can parse the
GSC headers to find the HuC version and the location of the binary to
be used for the DMA transfer.

The parsing function has been designed to be re-used for the GSC binary,
so the entry names are external parameters (because the GSC uses
different ones) and the CSS entry is optional (because the GSC doesn't
have it).

dd08ebf6c3 drm/xe: Introduce a new DRM driver for Intel GPUs
Xe, is a new driver for Intel GPUs that supports both integrated and
discrete platforms starting with Tiger Lake (first Intel Xe Architecture).

The code is at a stage where it is already functional and has experimental
support for multiple platforms starting from Tiger Lake, with initial
support implemented in Mesa (for Iris and Anv, our OpenGL and Vulkan
drivers), as well as in NEO (for OpenCL and Level0).

The new Xe driver leverages a lot from i915.

As for display, the intent is to share the display code with the i915
driver so that there is maximum reuse there. But it is not added
in this patch.

This initial work is a collaboration of many people and unfortunately
the big squashed patch won't fully honor the proper credits. But let's
get some git quick stats so we can at least try to preserve some of the
credits:

a85607e3cf drm/doc/rfc: Mark long running workload as complete.
No DRM scheduler changes required, drivers just return NULL in run_job
vfunc.

The rough consensus is that no helper or extra scaffolding is needed
around long-running jobs and no further changes to drm-scheduler.

At least for now. Other drivers that currently do long-running workloads
have no plat to use drm-scheduler. Besides, the current consensus is
that this solution of simply returning NULL to the run_job function should
work without extra code duplication or complication.

On top of that, this item was already a non-blocking one for upstreaming Xe,
so let's move that to the 'Completed' section and revisit the long-running
solution as a community after Xe is integrated in DRM.

It allows drivers to set a struct drm_plane_state .ignore_damage_clips in

be ignored.

To be used by drivers that do per-buffer (e.g: virtio-gpu) uploads (rather
than per-plane uploads), since these type of drivers need to handle buffer
damages instead of frame damages.

That way, these drivers could force a full plane update if the framebuffer

a78422e9df drm/sched: implement dynamic job-flow control
Currently, job flow control is implemented simply by limiting the number
of jobs in flight. Therefore, a scheduler is initialized with a credit
limit that corresponds to the number of jobs which can be sent to the
hardware.

This implies that for each job, drivers need to account for the maximum
job size possible in order to not overflow the ring buffer.

However, there are drivers, such as Nouveau, where the job size has a
rather large range. For such drivers it can easily happen that job
submissions not even filling the ring by 1% can block subsequent
submissions, which, in the worst case, can lead to the ring run dry.

In order to overcome this issue, allow for tracking the actual job size
instead of the number of jobs. Therefore, add a field to track a job's
credit count, which represents the number of credits a job contributes
to the scheduler's credit limit.

f11b0417ee drm/panfrost: Add fdinfo support GPU load metrics
The drm-stats fdinfo tags made available to user space are drm-engine,
drm-cycles, drm-max-freq and drm-curfreq, one per job slot.

This deviates from standard practice in other DRM drivers, where a single
set of key:value pairs is provided for the whole render engine. However,
Panfrost has separate queues for fragment and vertex/tiler jobs, so a
decision was made to calculate bus cycles and workload times separately.

Maximum operating frequency is calculated at devfreq initialisation time.
Current frequency is made available to user space because nvtop uses it
when performing engine usage calculations.

It is important to bear in mind that both GPU cycle and kernel time numbers
provided are at best rough estimations, and always reported in excess from
the actual figure because of two reasons:
 - Excess time because of the delay between the end of a job processing,
the subsequent job IRQ and the actual time of the sample.
 - Time spent in the engine queue waiting for the GPU to pick up the next
   job.

To avoid race conditions during enablement/disabling, a reference counting
mechanism was introduced, and a job flag that tells us whether a given job
increased the refcount. This is necessary, because user space can toggle
cycle counting through a debugfs file, and a given job might have been in
flight by the time cycle counting was disabled.

The main goal of the debugfs cycle counter knob is letting tools like nvtop
or IGT's gputop switch it at any time, to avoid power waste in case no
engine usage measuring is necessary.

Also add a documentation file explaining the possible values for fdinfo's
engine keystrings and Panfrost-specific drm-curfreq-<keystr> pairs.

d38d753da7 drm/i915: Add missing CCS documentation
Let's introduce the basic documentation about CCS.
While doing that, also removed the legacy execution flag name. That flag
simply doesn't exist for CCS and it is not needed on current context
submission. Those flag names are only needed on legacy context,
while on new ones we only need to pass the engine ID.

It is worth mention that this documentation should probably live with
the engine definitions rather than in the i915.rst file directly and
that more updates are likely need in this section. But this should
come later.

Pull drm ci scripts from Dave Airlie:
"This is a bunch of ci integration for the freedesktop gitlab instance
where we currently do upstream userspace testing on diverse sets of
GPU hardware. From my perspective I think it's an experiment worth
going with and seeing how the benefits/noise playout keeping these
  files useful.

Ideally I'd like to get this so we can do pre-merge testing on PRs
  eventually.

Below is some info from danvet on why we've ended up making the
decision and how we can roll it back if we decide it was a bad plan.

  Why in upstream?

   - like documentation, testcases, tools CI integration is one of these
things where you can waste endless amounts of time if you
accidentally have a version that doesn't match your source code

   - but also like the above, there's a balance, this is the initial cut
of what we think makes sense to keep in sync vs out-of-tree,
     probably needs adjustment

   - gitlab supports out-of-repo gitlab integration and that's what's
been used for the kernel in drm, but it results in per-driver
fragmentation and lots of duplicated effort. the simple act of
smashing an arbitrary winner into a topic branch already started
surfacing patches on dri-devel and sparking good cross driver team
     discussions

  Why gitlab?

   - it's not any more shit than any of the other CI

   - drm userspace uses it extensively for everything in userspace, we
have a lot of people and experience with this, including
     integration of hw testing labs

   - media userspace like gstreamer is also on gitlab.fd.o, and there's
discussion to extend this to the media subsystem in some fashion

  Can this be shared?

   - there's definitely a pile of code that could move to scripts/ if
other subsystem adopt ci integration in upstream kernel git. other
bits are more drm/gpu specific like the igt-gpu-tests/tools
     integration

   - docker images can be run locally or in other CI runners

  Will we regret this?

   - it's all in one directory, intentionally, for easy deletion

   - probably 1-2 years in upstream to see whether this is worth it or a
Big Mistake. that's roughly what it took to _really_ roll out solid
CI in the bigger userspace projects we have on gitlab.fd.o like
     mesa3d"

3d06add933 drm/doc/rfc: Mark DRM_VM_BIND as complete.
The consensus is for individual drivers VM_BIND uapis with
the GPUVA helpers that are already implemented and merged
upstream.

The merged GPUVA documentation also establish some overall
rules for the locking to be followed by the drivers.
