Currently, the implementation of the RISC-V INTC driver uses the
interrupt cause as the hardware interrupt number, with a maximum of
64 interrupts. However, the platform can expand the interrupt number
further for custom local interrupts.
To fully utilize the available local interrupt sources, switch
to using irq_domain_create_tree() that creates the radix tree
map, add global variables (riscv_intc_nr_irqs, riscv_intc_custom_base
and riscv_intc_custom_nr_irqs) to determine the valid range of local
interrupt number (hwirq).

The GIC/ITS code is designed to ensure to pick up any preallocated LPI
tables on the redistributors, as enabling LPIs is a one-way switch. There
is no such restriction for vLPIs, and for GICv4.1 it is expected to
allocate a new vPE table at boot.
This works as intended when initializing an ITS, however when setting up a
redistributor in cpu_init_lpis() the early return for preallocated RD
tables skips straight past the GICv4 setup. This all comes to a head when
trying to kexec() into a new kernel, as the new kernel silently fails to
set up GICv4, leading to a complete loss of SGIs and LPIs for KVM VMs.
Slap a band-aid on the problem by ensuring its_cpu_init_lpis() always
initializes GICv4 on the way out, even if the other RD tables were
preallocated.

RISC-V PLIC cannot "end-of-interrupt" (EOI) disabled interrupts, as
explained in the description of Interrupt Completion in the PLIC spec:
"The PLIC signals it has completed executing an interrupt handler by
writing the interrupt ID it received from the claim to the claim/complete
register. The PLIC does not check whether the completion ID is the same
as the last claim ID for that target. If the completion ID does not match
an interrupt source that *is currently enabled* for the target, the
completion is silently ignored."
Commit 69ea463021be ("irqchip/sifive-plic: Fixup EOI failed when masked")
ensured that EOI is successful by enabling interrupt first, before EOI.
Commit a1706a1c5062 ("irqchip/sifive-plic: Separate the enable and mask
operations") removed the interrupt enabling code from the previous
commit, because it assumes that interrupt should already be enabled at the
point of EOI.
However, this is incorrect: there is a window after a hart claiming an
interrupt and before irq_desc->lock getting acquired, interrupt can be
disabled during this window. Thus, EOI can be invoked while the interrupt
is disabled, effectively nullify this EOI. This results in the interrupt
never gets asserted again, and the device who uses this interrupt appears
frozen.
Make sure that interrupt is really enabled before EOI.

Currently the irqdomain select callback is only invoked when the parameter
count of the fwspec arguments is not zero. That makes sense because then
the match is on the firmware node and eventually on the bus_token, which is
already handled in the core code.
The upcoming support for per device MSI domains requires to do real bus
token specific checks in the MSI parent domains with a zero parameter
count.
Make the gic-v3 select() callback handle that case.

When updating the affinity of a VPE, the VMOVP command is currently skipped
if the two CPUs are part of the same VPE affinity.
But this is wrong, as the doorbell corresponding to this VPE is still
delivered on the 'old' CPU, which screws up the balancing. Furthermore,
offlining that 'old' CPU results in doorbell interrupts generated for this
VPE being discarded.
The harsh reality is that VMOVP cannot be elided when a set_affinity()
request occurs. It needs to be obeyed, and if an optimisation is to be
made, it is at the point where the affinity change request is made (such as
in KVM).
Drop the VMOVP elision altogether, and only use the vpe_table_mask
to try and stay within the same ITS affinity group if at all possible.

firmly ignored.
This is unfortunate, as the new recent addition of the "dma-noncoherent" is

It was observed on Broadcom devices that use GIC v3 architecture L1
interrupt controllers as the parent of brcmstb-l2 interrupt controllers
that the deactivation of the parent interrupt could happen before the
brcmstb-l2 deasserted its output. This would lead the GIC to reactivate the
interrupt only to find that no L2 interrupt was pending. The result was a
spurious interrupt invoking handle_bad_irq() with its associated
messaging. While this did not create a functional problem it is a waste of
cycles.
The hazard exists because the memory mapped bus writes to the brcmstb-l2
registers are buffered and the GIC v3 architecture uses a very efficient
system register write to deactivate the interrupt.
Add a write memory barrier prior to invoking chained_irq_exit() to
introduce a dsb(st) on those systems to ensure the system register write
cannot be executed until the memory mapped writes are visible to the
system.

commit 23baf831a32c ("mm, treewide: redefine MAX_ORDER sanely") has
changed the definition of MAX_ORDER to be inclusive. This has caused
issues with code that was not yet upstream and depended on the previous
definition.
To draw attention to the altered meaning of the define, rename MAX_ORDER
to MAX_PAGE_ORDER.

The MPM hardware is accessible from the ARM CPUs through a shared memory
region (RPM MSG RAM) which is also concurrently accessed by other kinds of
cores on the system like modem, ADSP etc.
Modeling this relation in a (somewhat) sane manner in the device tree
requires to
- either present the MPM as a child of said memory region, which
makes little sense, as a mapped memory carveout is not a bus.
- define nodes which bleed their register spaces into one another
- or passing their slice of the MSG RAM through a property
Go with the third option and add a way to map a region passed through the
"qcom,rpm-msg-ram" property as register space for the MPM interrupt
controller.
The current way of using 'reg' is preserved for backwards compatibility
reasons.

The irqchip-renesas-rzg2l driver is used on RZ/G3S SoC. RZ/G3S can go into
deep sleep states where power to different SoC's parts is cut off and RAM
is switched to self-refresh. The resume from these states is done with the
help of the bootloader.
The IA55 IRQ controller needs to be reconfigured when resuming from deep
sleep state. For this the IA55 registers are cached in suspend and restored
in resume.
The IA55 IRQ controller is connected to GPIO controller and GIC as follows:
┌──────────┐ ┌──────────┐
│ │ SPIX │ │
│ ├─────────►│ │
│ │ │ │
│ │ │ │
┌────────┐IRQ0-7 │ IA55 │ │ GIC │
Pin0 ───────►│ ├─────────────►│ │ │ │
│ │ │ │ PPIY │ │
... │ GPIO │ │ ├─────────►│ │
│ │GPIOINT0-127 │ │ │ │
PinN ───────►│ ├─────────────►│ │ │ │
└────────┘ └──────────┘ └──────────┘
where:
- Pin0 is the first GPIO controller pin
- PinN is the last GPIO controller pin
- SPIX is the SPI interrupt with identifier X
- PPIY is the PPI interrupt with identifier Y
Implement suspend/resume functionality with syscore_ops to be able to
cache/restore the registers after/before the GPIO controller suspend/resume
functions are invoked.
As the syscore_ops suspend/resume functions do not take any argument make
the driver private data static so it can be accessed from the
suspend/resume functions.
The IA55 interrupt controller is resumed before the GPIO controller. As
GPIO pins could be in an a state which causes spurious interrupts, the
reconfiguration of the interrupt controller is restricted to restore the
interrupt type and leave them disabled.
An eventually required interrupt enable operation will be done as part of
the GPIO controller resume function after restoring the GPIO state.

The RZ/G2L manual (chapter "IRQ Status Control Register (ISCR)") describes
the operation to clear interrupts through the ISCR register as follows:
[Write operation]
When "Falling-edge detection", "Rising-edge detection" or

- In case ISTAT is 1
0: IRQn interrupt detection status is cleared.
1: Invalid to write.

In commit 44bd78dd2b88 ("irqchip/gic-v3: Disable pseudo NMIs on
MediaTek devices w/ firmware issues") we added a method for detecting
MediaTek devices with broken firmware and disabled pseudo-NMI. While
that worked, it didn't address the problem at a deep enough level.
The fundamental issue with this broken firmware is that it's not
saving and restoring several important GICR registers. The current
list is believed to be:
* GICR_NUM_IPRIORITYR
* GICR_CTLR
* GICR_ISPENDR0
* GICR_ISACTIVER0
* GICR_NSACR
Pseudo-NMI didn't work because it was the only thing (currently) in
the kernel that relied on the broken registers, so forcing pseudo-NMI
off was an effective fix. However, it could be observed that calling
system_uses_irq_prio_masking() on these systems still returned
"true". That caused confusion and led to the need for
commit a07a59415217 ("arm64: smp: avoid NMI IPIs with broken MediaTek
FW"). It's worried that the incorrect value returned by
system_uses_irq_prio_masking() on these systems will continue to
confuse future developers.
Let's fix the issue a little more completely by disabling IRQ
priorities at a deeper level in the kernel. Once we do this we can
revert some of the other bits of code dealing with this quirk.
This includes a partial revert of commit 44bd78dd2b88
("irqchip/gic-v3: Disable pseudo NMIs on MediaTek devices w/ firmware
issues"). This isn't a full revert because it leaves some of the
changes to the "quirks" structure around in case future code needs it.

In non-coherent GIC designs, the ITS tables must be flushed before writing
to the GITS_BASER<n> registers, otherwise the ITS could read dirty tables,
which results in unpredictable behavior.
Flush the tables right at the begin of its_setup_baser() to prevent that.

Multi-socket systems have a separate PLIC in each socket, so __plic_init()
is invoked for each PLIC. __plic_init() registers syscore operations, which
obviously fails on the second invocation.
Move it into the already existing condition for installing the CPU hotplug
state so it is only invoked once when the first PLIC is initialized.

Use preferred device_get_match_data() instead of of_match_device() to
get the driver match data in a single step without the unnecessary
intermediate match pointer.
With this, adjust the includes to explicitly include the correct
headers. That also serves as preparation to remove implicit includes within
the DT headers. of_platform.h currently includes platform_device.h among
others.

When splitting the allocation of the ITS node from its configuration,
some of the default settings were kept in the latter instead of
being moved to the former.
This has the side effect of negating some of the quirk detections that
have happened in between, amongst which the dreaded Synquacer hack
(that also affect Dominic's TI platform).
Move the initialisation of these fields early, so that they can again be
overriden by the Synquacer quirk.

In gic_read_iar() we use cpus_have_const_cap() to check for
ARM64_WORKAROUND_CAVIUM_23154 but this is not necessary and
alternative_has_cap_*() would be preferable.
For historical reasons, cpus_have_const_cap() is more complicated than
it needs to be. Before cpucaps are finalized, it will perform a bitmap
test of the system_cpucaps bitmap, and once cpucaps are finalized it
will use an alternative branch. This used to be necessary to handle some
race conditions in the window between cpucap detection and the
subsequent patching of alternatives and static branches, where different
branches could be out-of-sync with one another (or w.r.t. alternative
sequences). Now that we use alternative branches instead of static
branches, these are all patched atomically w.r.t. one another, and there
are only a handful of cases that need special care in the window between
cpucap detection and alternative patching.
Due to the above, it would be nice to remove cpus_have_const_cap(), and
migrate callers over to alternative_has_cap_*(), cpus_have_final_cap(),
or cpus_have_cap() depending on when their requirements. This will
remove redundant instructions and improve code generation, and will make
it easier to determine how each callsite will behave before, during, and
after alternative patching.
The ARM64_WORKAROUND_CAVIUM_23154 cpucap is detected and patched early
on the boot CPU before the GICv3 driver is initialized and hence before
gic_read_iar() is ever called. Thus it is not necessary to use
cpus_have_const_cap(), and alternative_has_cap() is equivalent.
In addition, arm64's gic_read_iar() lives in irq-gic-v3.c purely for
historical reasons. It was originally added prior to 32-bit arm support
in commit:
6d4e11c5e2e8cd54 ("irqchip/gicv3: Workaround for Cavium ThunderX erratum 23154")
When support for 32-bit arm was added, 32-bit arm's gic_read_iar()
implementation was placed in <asm/arch_gicv3.h>, but the arm64 version
was kept within irq-gic-v3.c as it depended on a static key local to
irq-gic-v3.c and it was easier to add ifdeffery, which is what we did in
commit:
7936e914f7b0827c ("irqchip/gic-v3: Refactor the arm64 specific parts")
Subsequently the static key was replaced with a cpucap in commit:
a4023f682739439b ("arm64: Add hypervisor safe helper for checking constant capabilities")
Since that commit there has been no need to keep arm64's gic_read_iar()
in irq-gic-v3.c.
This patch replaces the use of cpus_have_const_cap() with
alternative_has_cap_unlikely(), which will avoid generating code to test
the system_cpucaps bitmap and should be better for all subsequent calls
at runtime. For consistency, move the arm64-specific gic_read_iar()
implementation over to arm64's <asm/arch_gicv3.h>. The
ARM64_WORKAROUND_CAVIUM_23154 cpucap is added to cpucap_is_possible() so
that code can be elided entirely when this is not possible.
