8f73a13f74 iio: remove left-over parent assignments
These were found by doing some shell magic:

The output is bearable [after the semantic patch is applied].
There is a mix of trigger assignments with some iio device parent
assignments that are removed via this patch.

JC: A few more added via inspection of all parent =
statements in drivers/iio. Some of these may just have crossed with this
series, others were less obvious to scripting due to some cross
file / module boundary calls.

e7e3b9d23f iio: cros_ec: Reapply range at resume
EC does not currently preserve range across sensor reinit.
If sensor is powered down at suspend, it will default to the EC default
range at resume, not the range set by the host.

Save range if modified, and apply at resume.

067fda1c06 iio: hid-sensors: move triggered buffer setup into hid_sensor_setup_trigger
The main intent here is to get rid of the iio_buffer_set_attrs() helper, or
at least rework it's usage a bit.
The problem with that helper is that it needs a pointer to the buffer,
which makes supporting multiple buffers per IIO device a bit more
cumbersome.

The hid_sensor_setup_trigger() is pretty much used in the same way:
- iio_triggered_buffer_setup() gets called before
- then hid_sensor_setup_trigger() and hid_sensor_setup_batch_mode() gets
  called which may attach some fifo attributes

This change merges the 2 together under the hid_sensor_setup_trigger()
function. Only the &iio_pollfunc_store_time is passed to all devices, so
it's not even required to pass it explicitly outside of the common
hid_sensor_setup_trigger() function.

Moving the devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup/cleanup() calls into the common
place code can help the rework of the buffer code, since it is in one
place.

One detail of the change is that there are 2 drivers that use
devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup(). That function gets implicitly
replaced with iio_triggered_buffer_setup()/cleanup(), but since all drivers
call both hid_sensor_setup_trigger9) & hid_sensor_remove_trigger() trigger,
the iio_triggered_buffer_cleanup() piggy backs on the
hid_sensor_remove_trigger() call, which should cover the cleanup.

e450e07c14 iio: st_sensors: rely on odr mask to know if odr can be set
Indeed, relying on addr being not 0 cannot work because some device have
their register to set odr at address 0. As a matter of fact, if the odr
can be set, then there is a mask.

Sensors with ODR register at address 0 are: lsm303dlh, lsm303dlhc, lsm303dlm

Expose EC minimal interrupt period through buffer/hwfifo_timeout:
- Maximal timeout is limited to 65s.
- When timeout for all sensors is set to 0, EC will not send events,
  even if the sensor sampling rate is greater than 0.

Rename frequency to sampling_frequency to match IIO ABI.

2861be4ca9 iio: cros_ec: Remove pm function
Since cros_ec_sensorhub is shutting down the FIFO when the device
suspends, no need to slow down the EC sampling period rate.

It was necesseary to do that before command CMD_FIFO_INT_ENABLE was
introduced, but now all supported chromebooks have it.

aa984f1ba4 iio: cros_ec: Register to cros_ec_sensorhub when EC supports FIFO
When EC supports FIFO, each IIO device registers a callback, to put
samples in the buffer when they arrives from the FIFO.

When no FIFO, the user space app needs to call trigger_new, or better
register a high precision timer.

efc78983d2 iio: st_sensors: Drop redundant parameter from st_sensors_of_name_probe()
Since we have access to the struct device_driver and thus to the ID table,
there is no need to supply special parameters to st_sensors_of_name_probe().

Besides that we have a common API to get driver match data, there is
no need to do matching separately for OF and ACPI.

Taking into consideration above, simplify the ST sensors code.

11f1eabee0 cros_ec: treewide: Remove 'include/linux/mfd/cros_ec.h'
This header file now only includes the cros_ec_dev struct, however, is the
'include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h' who contains the definition of
all the Chrome OS EC related structs. There is no reason to have a
separate include for this struct so move to the place where other
structs are defined. That way, we can remove the include itself, but also
simplify the common pattern

f6897deef4 iio: hid-sensor-attributes: Fix divisions for 32-bit platforms
The commit 473d12f763

  ("iio: hid-sensor-attributes: Convert to use int_pow()")

converted to use generic int_pow() helper. Though, the generic one returns
64-bit value and, in cases when it is used as divisor, it compels 64-bit
division from compiler.

In order to fix this, introduce a temporary 32-bit variable to hold the result
of int_pow() and use it as divisor afterwards.

In couple of cases, replace int_pow() with a predefined unit factors for time
and frequency.

There is a bit of mess between cros-ec mfd includes and platform
includes. For example, we have a linux/mfd/cros_ec.h include that
exports the interface implemented in platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c. Or
we have a linux/mfd/cros_ec_commands.h file that is non related to the
multifunction device (in the sense that is not exporting any function of
the mfd device). This causes crossed includes between mfd and
platform/chrome subsystems and makes the code difficult to read, apart
from creating 'curious' situations where a platform/chrome driver includes
a linux/mfd/cros_ec.h file just to get the exported functions that are
implemented in another platform/chrome driver.

In order to have a better separation on what the cros-ec multifunction
driver does and what the cros-ec core provides move and rework the
affected includes doing:

 - Move cros_ec_commands.h to include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_commands.h
 - Get rid of the parts that are implemented in the platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c
   driver from include/linux/mfd/cros_ec.h to a new file
   include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h
 - Update all the drivers with the new includes, so
   - Drivers that only need to know about the protocol include
     - linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h
     - linux/platform_data/cros_ec_commands.h
   - Drivers that need to know about the cros-ec mfd device also include
     - linux/mfd/cros_ec.h

ae7b02ad2f iio: common: cros_ec_sensors: Expose cros_ec_sensors frequency range via iio sysfs
Embedded controller return minimum and maximum frequencies, unfortunately
we have no way to know the step for all available frequencies.
Even if not complete, we can return a list of known values using the
standard read_avail callback (IIO_CHAN_INFO_SAMP_FREQ) to provide them to
userland.

Now cros_ec_* sensors provides frequencies values in sysfs like this:
"0 min max". 0 is always true to disable the sensor.

Default frequencies are provided for earlier protocol.

12bf745c9a iio: cros_ec: Add sign vector in core for backward compatibility
To allow cros_ec iio core library to be used with legacy device, add a
vector to rotate sensor data if necessary: legacy devices are not
reporting data in HTML5/Android sensor referential.

Check the data is not rotated on recent chromebooks that use the HTML5
standard to present sensor data.

1ecd245e0e iio: move 3-wire spi initialization to st_sensors_spi
Some devices need to be configured with special bit in order to
use spi 3-wire. This was done during device identification phase.
Instead, let's move this part as spi specific.

6f9ca1d3eb iio: common: ssp_sensors: Initialize calculated_time in ssp_common_process_data
When building with -Wsometimes-uninitialized, Clang warns:

drivers/iio/common/ssp_sensors/ssp_iio.c:95:6: warning: variable
'calculated_time' is used uninitialized whenever 'if' condition is false
[-Wsometimes-uninitialized]

While it isn't wrong, this will never be a problem because
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp only uses calculated_time
on the same condition that it is assigned (when scan_timestamp
is not zero). While iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp is marked
as inline, Clang does inlining in the optimization stage, which
happens after the semantic analysis phase (plus inline is merely
a hint to the compiler).

Fix this by just zero initializing calculated_time.

3d02d7082e iio: cros_ec: Fix the maths for gyro scale calculation
Calculation did not use IIO_DEGREE_TO_RAD and implemented a variant to
avoid precision loss as we aim a nano value. The offset added to avoid
rounding error, though, doesn't give us a close result to the expected
value. E.g.

For 1000dps, the result should be:

    (1000 * pi ) / 180 >> 15 ~= 0.000532632218

But with current calculation we get

    $ cat scale
    0.000547890

Fix the calculation by just doing the maths involved for a nano value

   val * pi * 10e12 / (180 * 2^15)

so we get a closer result.

    $ cat scale
    0.000532632

eafdca4d70 Staging/IIO patches for 4.18-rc1
Here is the big staging and IIO driver update for 4.18-rc1.
 
 It was delayed as I wanted to make sure the final driver deletions did
 not cause any major merge issues, and all now looks good.
 
 There are a lot of patches here, just over 1000.  The diffstat summary
 shows the major changes here:
 	1007 files changed, 16828 insertions(+), 227770 deletions(-)
 Because of this, we might be close to shrinking the overall kernel
 source code size for two releases in a row.
 
 There was loads of work in this release cycle, primarily:
 	- tons of ks7010 driver cleanups
 	- lots of mt7621 driver fixes and cleanups
 	- most driver cleanups
 	- wilc1000 fixes and cleanups
 	- lots and lots of IIO driver cleanups and new additions
 	- debugfs cleanups for all staging drivers
 	- lots of other staging driver cleanups and fixes, the shortlog
 	  has the full details.
 
 but the big user-visable things here are the removal of 3 chunks of
 code:
 	- ncpfs and ipx were removed on schedule, no one has cared about
 	  this code since it moved to staging last year, and if it needs
 	  to come back, it can be reverted.
 	- lustre file system is removed.  I've ranted at the lustre
 	  developers about once a year for the past 5 years, with no
 	  real forward progress at all to clean things up and get the
 	  code into the "real" part of the kernel.  Given that the
 	  lustre developers continue to work on an external tree and try
 	  to port those changes to the in-kernel tree every once in a
 	  while, this whole thing really really is not working out at
 	  all.  So I'm deleting it so that the developers can spend the
 	  time working in their out-of-tree location and get things
 	  cleaned up properly to get merged into the tree correctly at a
 	  later date.
 
 Because of these file removals, you will have merge issues on some of
 these files (2 in the ipx code, 1 in the ncpfs code, and 1 in the
 atomisp driver).  Just delete those files, it's a simple merge :)
 
 All of this has been in linux-next for a while with no reported
 problems.

  It was delayed as I wanted to make sure the final driver deletions did

     I've ranted at the lustre developers about once a year for the past
     5 years, with no real forward progress at all to clean things up
     and get the code into the "real" part of the kernel.

     Given that the lustre developers continue to work on an external
     tree and try to port those changes to the in-kernel tree every once
     in a while, this whole thing really really is not working out at
     all. So I'm deleting it so that the developers can spend the time
     working in their out-of-tree location and get things cleaned up
     properly to get merged into the tree correctly at a later date.

  Because of these file removals, you will have merge issues on some of
  these files (2 in the ipx code, 1 in the ncpfs code, and 1 in the
  atomisp driver). Just delete those files, it's a simple merge :)

  All of this has been in linux-next for a while with no reported

6f92253024 iio: hid-sensor-trigger: Fix sometimes not powering up the sensor after resume
hid_sensor_set_power_work() powers the sensors back up after a resume
based on the user_requested_state atomic_t.

But hid_sensor_power_state() treats this as a boolean flag, leading to
the following problematic scenario:

1) Some app starts using the iio-sensor in buffered / triggered mode,
   hid_sensor_data_rdy_trigger_set_state(true) gets called, setting
   user_requested_state to 1.
2) Something directly accesses a _raw value through sysfs, leading
   to a call to hid_sensor_power_state(true) followed by
   hid_sensor_power_state(false) call, this sets user_requested_state
   to 1 followed by setting it to 0.
3) Suspend/resume the machine, hid_sensor_set_power_work() now does
   NOT power the sensor back up because user_requested_state (wrongly)
   is 0. Which stops the app using the sensor in buffered mode from
   receiving any new values.

This commit changes user_requested_state to a counter tracking how many
times hid_sensor_power_state(true) was called instead, fixing this.

0dad1eceeb iio: cros_ec: Relax sampling frequency before suspending
If an application set a tight sampling frequency, given the interrupt
use is a wakeup source, suspend will not happen: the kernel will receive
a wake up interrupt and will cancel the suspend process.

Given cros_ec sensors type is non wake up, this patch adds prepare and
complete callbacks to set 1s sampling period just before suspend. This
ensures the sensor hub will not be a source of interrupt during the
suspend process.

data field of an of_device_id array.

Add const to the declaration of the location that receives a value
from the data field to ensure that the compiler will continue to check
that the value is not modified and remove the const-dropping cast on
the access to the data field.

a4493f227d iio: common: ssp_sensors: use ktime_get_real_ns() timestamps
getnstimeofday() suffers from the overflow in y2038 on 32-bit
architectures and requires a conversion into the nanosecond format that
we want here.

This changes ssp_parse_dataframe() to use ktime_get_real_ns() directly,
which does not have that problem.

An open question is what time base should be used here. Normally
timestamps should use ktime_get_ns() or ktime_get_boot_ns() to read
monotonic time instead of "real" time, which suffers from time jumps
due to settimeofday() calls or leap seconds.

Here is the "big" staging and IIO driver update for 4.15-rc1.
 
 Lots and lots of little changes, almost all minor code cleanups as the
 Outreachy application process happened during this development cycle.
 Also happened was a lot of IIO driver activity, and the typec USB code
 moving out of staging to drivers/usb (same commits are in the USB tree
 on a persistent branch to not cause merge issues.)
 
 Overall, it's a wash, I think we added a few hundred more lines than
 removed, but really only a few thousand were modified at all.
 
 All of these have been in linux-next for a while.  There might be a
 merge issue with Al's vfs tree in the pi433 driver (take his changes,
 they are always better), and the media tree with some of the odd atomisp

b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier.  The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne.  Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed.  Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
   considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

   For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
   license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
   licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
   resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
   which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
   confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
   the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights.  The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
   files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
   was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction.  This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg.  Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected.  This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.)  Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

ad7532cefd iio: hid-sensor-trigger: Don't touch sensors unless user space requests
One of the user complained that on his system Thinkpad Yoga S1, with
commit f1664eaace ("iio: hid-sensor-trigger: Fix the race with user
space powering up sensors") causes the system to resume immediately
on suspend (S3 operation). On this system the sensor hub is on USB
and is a wake up device from S3. So if any sensor sends data on
motion, the system will wake up. This can be a legitimate use case
to wake up device motion, but that needs proper user space support
to set right thresholds.

In fact the above commit didn't cause this regression, but any operation
which cause sensors to wake up would have caused the same issue. So if
user reads the raw sensor data, same issue occurs, with or without this
commit. Only difference is that the above commit by default will trigger
a power up and power down of sensors as part of runtime pm enable
(runtime enable will cause a runtime resume callback followed by
runtime_suspend callback). Previously user has to do some action on
sensors.

On investigation it was observed that the current driver correctly
changing the state of all sensors to power off but then also some sensor
will still send some data. Only option is to never power up any sensor.

Only good option is to:
- Using sysfs interface disable USB as a wakeup device (This will not
need any driver change)

Since some user don't care about sensors. So for those users this change
brings back old functionality. As long as they don't cause any operation
to power up sensors (like raw read or start iio-sensor-proxy service),
the sensors will not be to touched. This is done by delaying run time
enable till user space does some operation with sensors.

Introduce register mask for data-ready status register since
pressure sensors (e.g. LPS22HB) export just two channels
(BIT(0) and BIT(1)) and BIT(2) is marked reserved while in
st_sensors_new_samples_available() value read from status register
is masked using 0x7.
Moreover do not mask status register using active_scan_mask since
now status value is properly masked and if the result is not zero the
interrupt has to be consumed by the driver. This fix an issue on LPS25H
and LPS331AP where channel definition is swapped respect to status
register.
Furthermore that change allows to properly support new devices
(e.g LIS2DW12) that report just ZYXDA (data-ready) field in status register
to figure out if the interrupt has been generated by the device.

c65e3d6ef4 iio: magnetometer: st_magn: fix drdy line configuration for LIS3MDL
Data-ready line in LIS3MDL is routed to drdy pin and it is not possible
to select a different INT pin. st_sensors_set_dataready_irq() assumes
that if drdy int address is not exported in register map, irq trigger
is not supported by the sensor and hw_irq_trigger is always false.
Based on this configuration st_sensors_irq_thread does not consume
generated interrupt causing an unhandled irq.
Fix this taking into account status register address in
st_sensors_set_dataready_irq()

The equivalent of both of these are now done via macro magic when
the relevant register calls are made.  The actual structure
elements will shortly go away.

Clearly this set jumps across multiple areas, but inherently it
can't be grouped like the other sets in this series so I've done
all the stuff in the common directory together.

f1664eaace iio: hid-sensor-trigger: Fix the race with user space powering up sensors
It has been reported for a while that with iio-sensor-proxy service the
rotation only works after one suspend/resume cycle. This required a wait
in the systemd unit file to avoid race. I found a Yoga 900 where I could
reproduce this.

The problem scenerio is:
- During sensor driver init, enable run time PM and also set a
  auto-suspend for 3 seconds.
	This result in one runtime resume. But there is a check to avoid
a powerup in this sequence, but rpm is active
- User space iio-sensor-proxy tries to power up the sensor. Since rpm is
  active it will simply return. But sensors were not actually
powered up in the prior sequence, so actaully the sensors will not work
- After 3 seconds the auto suspend kicks

If we add a wait in systemd service file to fire iio-sensor-proxy after
3 seconds, then now everything will work as the runtime resume will
actually powerup the sensor as this is a user request.

To avoid this:
- Remove the check to match user requested state, this will cause a
  brief powerup, but if the iio-sensor-proxy starts immediately it will
still work as the sensors are ON.
- Also move the autosuspend delay to place when user requested turn off
  of sensors, like after user finished raw read or buffer disable

b0f847e16c HID: hid-sensor-hub: Force logical minimum to 1 for power and report state
In the reference HID sensor hub firmware all Named array enums were
0-based. There is no description of the default base of enums in HID
sensor hub specification as logical minimum should have set this base
value.

Every sensor hub implemented enum as 1-based, without explicitly setting
logical minimum to 1, because of the implementation by one of the major
OS vendor. In Linux we used logical minimum to decide the enum base.

Some sensor hub FWs already changed logical minimum from 0 to 1. We hoped
that every other vendor will follow. But that didn't happen and we had to
fix the report header for every sensor hub to change logical minimum to 1
by using .report_fixup() callback. So for every new sensor hub we had to
modify source code by adding this quirk based on the vendor and device id.
This is becoming a maintenance burden.

This patch hardcodes the logical minimum of power and report state
attributes to 1. In this way we can remove the existing quirks and also
we don't have to add more quirks.

a7b8829d24 iio: accel: st_accel: add SPI-3wire support
Add SPI Serial Interface Mode (SIM) register information
in st_sensor_settings look up table to support devices
(like LSM303AGR accel sensor) that allow just SPI-3wire
communication mode. SIM mode has to be configured before any
other operation since it is not enabled by default and the driver
is not able to read without that configuration

Whilst a fairly substantial patch, the actual logic is simple and it
is better to have the generic fix than a band aid.

138bc7969c iio: hid-sensor-hub: Implement batch mode
HID sensor hubs using Integrated Senor Hub (ISH) has added capability to
support batch mode. This allows host processor to go to sleep for extended
duration, while the sensor hub is storing samples in its internal buffers.

'Commit f4f4673b75 ("iio: add support for hardware fifo")' implements
feature in IIO core to implement such feature. This feature is used in
bmc150-accel-core.c to implement batch mode. This implementation allows
software device buffer watermark to be used as a hint to adjust hardware
FIFO.

But HID sensor hubs don't allow to change internal buffer size of FIFOs.
Instead an additional usage id to set "maximum report latency" is defined.
This allows host to go to sleep upto this latency period without getting
any report. Since there is no ABI to set this latency, a new attribute
"hwfifo_timeout" is added so that user mode can specify a latency.

This change checks presence of usage id to get/set maximum report latency
and if present, it will expose hwfifo_timeout.

5d9854eaea iio: hid-sensor: Store restore poll and hysteresis on S3
This change undo the change done by 'commit 3bec247474
("iio: hid-sensor-trigger: Change get poll value function order to avoid
sensor properties losing after resume from S3")' as this breaks some
USB/i2c sensor hubs.

Instead of relying on HW for restoring poll and hysteresis, driver stores
and restores on resume (S3). In this way user space modified settings are
not lost for any kind of sensor hub behavior.

In this change, whenever user space modifies sampling frequency or
hysteresis driver will get the feature value from the hub and store in the
per device hid_sensor_common data structure. On resume callback from S3,
system will set the feature to sensor hub, if user space ever modified the
feature value.

bba6d9e47f iio: hid-sensor-attributes: Fix sensor property setting failure.
When system bootup without get sensor property, set sensor
property will be fail.

If no get_feature operation done before set_feature, the sensor
properties will all be the initialized value, which is not the
same with sensor real properties. When set sensor property it will
write back to sensor the changed perperty data combines with other
sensor properties data, it is not right and may be dangerous.

In order to get all sensor properties, choose to read one of the sensor
properties(no matter read any sensor peroperty, driver will get all
the peroperties and return the requested one).

3bec247474 iio: hid-sensor-trigger: Change get poll value function order to avoid sensor properties losing after resume from S3
In function _hid_sensor_power_state(), when hid_sensor_read_poll_value()
is called, sensor's all properties will be updated by the value from
sensor hardware/firmware.
In some implementation, sensor hardware/firmware will do a power cycle
during S3. In this case, after resume, once hid_sensor_read_poll_value()
is called, sensor's all properties which are kept by driver during S3
will be changed to default value.
But instead, if a set feature function is called first, sensor
hardware/firmware will be recovered to the last status. So change the
sensor_hub_set_feature() calling order to behind of set feature function
to avoid sensor properties lose.

The LIS3LV02 has a special bit that need to be set to get the
read values left aligned. Before this patch we get gibberish
like this:

Which is because we read a raw value for 1g as 64 which is
the nominal 1024 for 1g shifted 4 bits to the left by being
right-aligned rather than left aligned.

Since all other sensors are left aligned, add some code to
set the special DAS (data alignment setting) bit to 1 so that
the right value is now read like this:

The scaling was weird as well: we have a gain of 1000 for 1g

Using realbits as i2c/spi read len, when that value is not byte aligned
(e.g 12 bits), lead to skip msb part of out data registers.
Fix this taking into account scan_type.shift in addition to

Added timestamp channel. With this change, each sample has a timestamp.
This timestamp can be from the sensor hub when present or local kernel
timestamp. HID sensors can send timestamp with input data using usage id
HID_USAGE_SENSOR_TIME_TIMESTAMP. This timestamp value is converted to
nano seconds before pushing this sample to the iio core.

6f77199e9e iio: hid-sensors: Increase the precision of scale to fix wrong reading interpretation.
While testing, it was observed that on some platforms the scale value
from iio sysfs for gyroscope is always 0 (E.g. Yoga 260). This results
in the final angular velocity component values to be zeros.

This is caused by insufficient precision of scale value displayed in sysfs.
If the precision is changed to nano from current micro, then this is
sufficient to display the scale value on this platform.
Since this can be a problem for all other HID sensors, increase scale
precision of all HID sensors to nano from current micro.

Results on Yoga 260:

a tree of other elements that would also have needed selecting.

Add the core functions to be able to support the sensors attached behind
the ChromeOS Embedded Controller and used by other IIO cros-ec sensor

7ba4b884b7 iio: st_sensors: use the helper function
The ST sensors can be used as a trigger for its own triggered buffer
but it is also possible to use an external trigger: a HRTimer or
even a different sensor (!) as trigger. In that case we should not
pick the timestamp from our own interrupt top half even if it is
active.

This could practically happen if some other sensor is using the
ST sensor as trigger but the ST sensor itself is using e.g.
an HRTimer as trigger. So the trigger is on, but not used by us.

We used to assume that whenever the hardware interrupt is turned
on, we are using it for our own trigger, but this is an
oversimplification.

Handle this logically by using the iio_trigger_using_own() helper.

aeb55fff38 iio: st_sensors: fetch and enable regulators unconditionally
These sensors all have Vdd and Vdd_IO lines. This means the
supplies are *not* optional (optional means that the supply is
optional in the electrical sense, not the software sense)
so we need to get the and enable them at all times.

If the device tree or board file does not define suitable
regulators for the component, it will be substituted by a
dummy regulator, or, if regulators are disabled altogether,
by stubs. There is no need to use the IS_ERR_OR_NULL() check
that is considered harmful.

Time to finally kill off the venerable (it was one of my first drivers)
lis3l02dq driver in favour of adding support in the st sensors framework.

This does loose us the event support that driver always had, but I think
that will reappear at some point and in the meantime the maintenance
advantages of dropping the 'special' driver for this one part outweigh
the issues.

It's worth noting this part is ancient and I may well be the only person
who still has any on hardware running recent kernels.

It has a few 'quirks'.
 - No WAI register so that just became optional.
 - A BDU option that really does block updates.  Completely.
   Whatever you do, you don't get any more data with it set.
   It is documented the same as more modern parts but I presume they
   are actually clearing for updates after a read of both bytes!
 - Fixed scale.
 - It's too quick.  Even at slowest rate (280Hz) I can't read out fast
   enough on my board (stargate 2) to beat new data coming in. Linus'
   repeat read patch doesn't help in this case. It just means I get 10
   readings before dying... So in reality this will get used with
   software triggers only unless someone has this long out of production
   device on a quick board.

90efe05562 iio: st_sensors: harden interrupt handling
Leonard Crestez observed the following phenomenon: when using
hard interrupt triggers (the DRDY line coming out of an ST
sensor) sometimes a new value would arrive while reading the
previous value, due to latencies in the system.

We discovered that the ST hardware as far as can be observed
is designed for level interrupts: the DRDY line will be held
asserted as long as there are new values coming. The interrupt
handler should be re-entered until we're out of values to
handle from the sensor.

If interrupts were handled as occurring on the edges (usually
low-to-high) new values could appear and the line be held
asserted after that, and these values would be missed, the
interrupt handler would also lock up as new data was
available, but as no new edges occurs on the DRDY signal,
nothing happens: the edge detector only detects edges.

To counter this, do the following:

- Accept interrupt lines to be flagged as level interrupts
  using IRQF_TRIGGER_HIGH and IRQF_TRIGGER_LOW. If the line
  is marked like this (in the device tree node or ACPI
  table or similar) it will be utilized as a level IRQ.
  We mark the line with IRQF_ONESHOT and mask the IRQ
  while processing a sample, then the top half will be
  entered again if new values are available.

- If we are flagged as using edge interrupts with
  IRQF_TRIGGER_RISING or IRQF_TRIGGER_FALLING: remove
  IRQF_ONESHOT so that the interrupt line is not
  masked while running the thread part of the interrupt.
  This way we will never miss an interrupt, then introduce
  a loop that polls the data ready registers repeatedly
  until no new samples are available, then exit the
  interrupt handler. This way we know no new values are
  available when the interrupt handler exits and
  new (edge) interrupts will be triggered when data arrives.
  Take some extra care to update the timestamp in the poll
  loop if this happens. The timestamp will not be 100%
  perfect, but it will at least be closer to the actual
  events. Usually the extra poll loop will handle the new
  samples, but once in a blue moon, we get a new IRQ
  while exiting the loop, before returning from the
  thread IRQ bottom half with IRQ_HANDLED. On these rare
  occasions, the removal of IRQF_ONESHOT means the
  interrupt will immediately fire again.

- If no interrupt type is indicated from the DT/ACPI,
  choose IRQF_TRIGGER_RISING as default, as this is necessary
  for legacy boards.

Tested successfully on the LIS331DL and L3G4200D by setting
sampling frequency to 400Hz/800Hz and stressing the system:
extra reads in the threaded interrupt handler occurs.
