On Raspberry Pis without onboard USB hub frequent device reconnects
can trigger a interrupt storm after DWC2 entered host clock gating.
This is caused by a race between _dwc2_hcd_suspend() and the port
interrupt, which sets port_connect_status. The issue occurs if
port_connect_status is still 1, but there is no connection anymore:
usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 25
dwc2 3f980000.usb: _dwc2_hcd_suspend: port_connect_status: 1

On Rasperry Pis without onboard USB hub the power cycle during
power connect init only disable the port but never enabled it again:
usb usb1-port1: attempt power cycle
The port relevant part in dwc2_hcd_hub_control() is skipped in case
port_connect_status = 0 under the assumption the core is or will be soon
in device mode. But this assumption is wrong, because after ClearPortFeature
USB_PORT_FEAT_POWER the port_connect_status will also be 0 and
SetPortFeature (incl. USB_PORT_FEAT_POWER) will be a no-op.
Fix the behavior of dwc2_hcd_hub_control() by replacing the
port_connect_status check with dwc2_is_device_mode().

all choice blocks are now boolean. There is no longer a need to specify
the choice type explicitly.
Most choice blocks already use "prompt". Before the next commit removes
support for the "bool" syntax in choice entries, this commit converts
the remaining "bool" occurences under drivers/usb/.

After commit 0edb555a65 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove()
return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for
platform drivers.
Convert all platform drivers below drivers/usb to use .remove(), with
the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As
.remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done
by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer.

The dwc2_handle_usb_suspend_intr() function disables gadget clocks in USB
peripheral mode when no other power-down mode is available (introduced by
commit 0112b7ce68 ("usb: dwc2: Update dwc2_handle_usb_suspend_intr function.")).
However, the dwc2_drd_role_sw_set() USB role update handler attempts to
read DWC2 registers if the USB role has changed while the USB is in suspend
mode (when the clocks are gated). This causes the system to hang.
Release the gadget clocks before handling the USB role update.

The issue is that before entering the crash kernel, the DWC USB controller
did not perform operations such as resetting the interrupt mask bits.
After entering the crash kernel,before the USB interrupt handler
registration was completed while loading the DWC USB driver,an GINTSTS_SOF
interrupt was received.This triggered the misroute_irq process within the
GIC handling framework,ultimately leading to the misrouting of the
interrupt,causing it to be handled by the wrong interrupt handler
and resulting in the issue.
Summary:In a scenario where the kernel triggers a panic and enters
the crash kernel,it is necessary to ensure that the interrupt mask
bit is not enabled before the interrupt registration is complete.
If an interrupt reaches the CPU at this moment,it will certainly
not be handled correctly,especially in cases where this interrupt
is reported frequently.

The size of the internal RAM of the DesignWare USB controller changed
between the different Lantiq SoCs. We have the following sizes:
Amazon + Danube: 8 KByte
Amazon SE + arx100: 2 KByte
xrx200 + xrx300: 2.5 KByte
For Danube SoC we do not provide the params and let the driver decide
to use sane defaults, for the Amazon SE and arx100 we use small fifos
and for the xrx200 and xrx300 SCs a little bit bigger periodic fifo.
The auto detection of max_transfer_size and max_packet_count should
work, so remove it.
This patch is included in OpenWrt for many years.

When using dma_map_sg() to map the scatterlist with iommu enabled,
the entries in the scatterlist can be mergerd into less but longer
entries in the function __finalise_sg(). So that the number of
valid mapped entries is actually smaller than ureq->num_reqs,and
there are still some invalid entries in the scatterlist with
dma_addr=0xffffffff and len=0. Writing these invalid sg entries
into the dma_desc can cause a data transmission error.
The function dma_map_sg() returns the number of valid map entries
and the return value is assigned to usb_request::num_mapped_sgs in
function usb_gadget_map_request_by_dev(). So that just write valid
mapped entries into dma_desc according to the usb_request::num_mapped_sgs,
and set the IOC bit if it's the last valid mapped entry.
This patch poses no risk to no-iommu situation, cause
ureq->num_mapped_sgs equals ureq->num_sgs while using dma_direct_map_sg()
to map the scatterlist whith iommu disabled.

In _dwc2_hcd_urb_enqueue(), "urb->hcpriv = NULL" is executed without
holding the lock "hsotg->lock". In _dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue():
spin_lock_irqsave(&hsotg->lock, flags);
...
if (!urb->hcpriv) {
dev_dbg(hsotg->dev, "## urb->hcpriv is NULL ##\n");
goto out;
}
rc = dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue(hsotg, urb->hcpriv); // Use urb->hcpriv
...
out:
spin_unlock_irqrestore(&hsotg->lock, flags);
When _dwc2_hcd_urb_enqueue() and _dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue() are
concurrently executed, the NULL check of "urb->hcpriv" can be executed
before "urb->hcpriv = NULL". After urb->hcpriv is NULL, it can be used
in the function call to dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue(), which can cause a NULL
pointer dereference.
This possible bug is found by an experimental static analysis tool
developed by myself. This tool analyzes the locking APIs to extract
function pairs that can be concurrently executed, and then analyzes the
instructions in the paired functions to identify possible concurrency
bugs including data races and atomicity violations. The above possible
bug is reported, when my tool analyzes the source code of Linux 6.5.
To fix this possible bug, "urb->hcpriv = NULL" should be executed with
holding the lock "hsotg->lock". After using this patch, my tool never
reports the possible bug, with the kernelconfiguration allyesconfig for
x86_64. Because I have no associated hardware, I cannot test the patch
in runtime testing, and just verify it according to the code logic.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from
emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve
here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first
step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already
returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is
renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

Add support for the utmi clock. It's needed on STM32MP15, when using
the integrated full-speed PHY. This clock is an output of USBPHYC, but
HS USBPHYC is not attached as PHY in this case: Full-Speed PHY is directly
managed in dwc2 glue, through GGPIO register. Typical DT when using FS PHY
&usbotg_hs {
compatible = "st,stm32mp15-fsotg", "snps,dwc2";
pinctrl-names = "default";
pinctrl-0 = <&usbotg_hs_pins_a &usbotg_fs_dp_dm_pins_a>;
vbus-supply = <&vbus_otg>;
status = "okay";
};
In this configuration, USBPHYC clock output must be defined, so it can
be properly enabled as a clock provider:
clocks = <&rcc USBO_K>, <&usbphyc>;
clock-names = "otg", "utmi";

When in dual role mode (dr_mode == USB_DR_MODE_OTG), platform probe
successively basically calls:
- dwc2_gadget_init()
- dwc2_hcd_init()
- dwc2_lowlevel_hw_disable() since recent change [1]
- usb_add_gadget_udc()
The PHYs (and so the clocks it may provide) shouldn't be disabled for all
SoCs, in OTG mode, as the HCD part has been initialized.
On STM32 this creates some weird race condition upon boot, when:
- initially attached as a device, to a HOST
- and there is a gadget script invoked to setup the device part.
Below issue becomes systematic, as long as the gadget script isn't
started by userland: the hardware PHYs (and so the clocks provided by the
PHYs) remains disabled.
It ends up in having an endless interrupt storm, before the watchdog
resets the platform.

The host part is also not functional, until the gadget part is configured.
The HW may only be disabled for peripheral mode (original init), e.g.
dr_mode == USB_DR_MODE_PERIPHERAL, until the gadget driver initializes.
But when in USB_DR_MODE_OTG, the HW should remain enabled, as the HCD part
is able to run, while the gadget part isn't necessarily configured.
I don't fully get the of purpose the original change, that claims disabling
the hardware is missing. It creates conditions on SOCs using the PHY
initialization to be completely non working in OTG mode. Original
change [1] should be reworked to be platform specific.

Each time the platform goes to low power, PM suspend / resume routines
call: __dwc2_lowlevel_hw_enable -> devm_add_action_or_reset().
This adds a new devres each time.
This may also happen at runtime, as dwc2_lowlevel_hw_enable() can be
called from udc_start().
This can be seen with tracing:
- echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/dev/devres_log/enable
- go to low power
- cat /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/trace
A new "ADD" entry is found upon each low power cycle:
... devres_log: 49000000.usb-otg ADD 82a13bba devm_action_release (8 bytes)
... devres_log: 49000000.usb-otg ADD 49889daf devm_action_release (8 bytes)
...
A second issue is addressed here:
- regulator_bulk_enable() is called upon each PM cycle (suspend/resume).
- regulator_bulk_disable() never gets called.
So the reference count for these regulators constantly increase, by one
upon each low power cycle, due to missing regulator_bulk_disable() call
in __dwc2_lowlevel_hw_disable().
The original fix that introduced the devm_add_action_or_reset() call,
fixed an issue during probe, that happens due to other errors in
dwc2_driver_probe() -> dwc2_core_reset(). Then the probe fails without
disabling regulators, when dr_mode == USB_DR_MODE_PERIPHERAL.
Rather fix the error path: disable all the low level hardware in the
error path, by using the "hsotg->ll_hw_enabled" flag. Checking dr_mode
has been introduced to avoid a dual call to dwc2_lowlevel_hw_disable().
"ll_hw_enabled" should achieve the same (and is used currently in the
remove() routine).

Some boards might use USB-A female connector for USB ports, however,
the port could be connected to a dual-mode USB controller, making it
also behaves as a peripheral device if male-to-male cable is connected.
In this case, the dts looks like this:
&usb0 {
status = "okay";
dr_mode = "otg";
usb-role-switch;
role-switch-default-mode = "host";
};
After boot, dwc2_ovr_init() sets GOTGCTL to GOTGCTL_AVALOVAL and call
dwc2_force_mode() with parameter host=false, which causes inconsistent
mode - The hardware is in peripheral mode while the kernel status is
in host mode.
What we can do now is to call dwc2_drd_role_sw_set() to switch to
device mode, and everything should work just fine now, even switching
back to none(default) mode afterwards.
