This fixes the following trace caused by receiving
HCI_EV_DISCONN_PHY_LINK_COMPLETE which does call hci_conn_del without
first checking if conn->type is in fact AMP_LINK and in case it is
do properly cleanup upper layers with hci_disconn_cfm:

Both hci_find_adv_instance and hci_remove_adv_instance have a comment
above their function definition saying that these two functions require
the caller to hold the hdev->lock lock. However, hci_le_ext_adv_term_evt
does not acquire that lock and neither does its caller hci_le_meta_evt
(hci_le_meta_evt calls hci_le_ext_adv_term_evt via an indirect function
call because of the lookup in hci_le_ev_table).
The other event handlers all acquire and release the hdev->lock and they
follow the rule that hci_find_adv_instance and hci_remove_adv_instance
must be called while holding the hdev->lock lock.
The solution is to make sure hci_le_ext_adv_term_evt also acquires and
releases the hdev->lock lock. The check on ev->status which logs a
warning and does an early return is not covered by the lock because
other functions also access ev->status without holding the lock.

HCI_EV_VENDOR is in fact variable length since it acts as metaevent
where a vendor can implement their own event sets.
In addition to it this makes use of bt_dev_warn_ratelimited to supress
the amount of logging in case the event has more data than expected.

When one of the three connection complete events is received multiple
times for the same handle, the device is registered multiple times which
leads to memory corruptions. Therefore, consequent events for a single
connection are ignored.
The conn->state can hold different values, therefore HCI_CONN_HANDLE_UNSET
is introduced to identify new connections. To make sure the events do not
contain this or another invalid handle HCI_CONN_HANDLE_MAX and checks
are introduced.

This event is just specified for SCO and eSCO link types.
On the reception of a HCI_Synchronous_Connection_Complete for a BDADDR
of an existing LE connection, LE link type and a status that triggers the
second case of the packet processing a NULL pointer dereference happens,
as conn->link is NULL.

This adds support for Set Privacy Mode when updating the resolving list
when HCI_CONN_FLAG_DEVICE_PRIVACY so the controller shall use Device
Mode for devices programmed in the resolving list, Device Mode is
actually required when the remote device are not able to use RPA as
otherwise the default mode is Network Privacy Mode in which only
allows RPAs thus the controller would filter out advertisement using
identity addresses for which there is an IRK.

When doing remote name request, we cannot scan. In the normal case it's
OK since we can expect it to finish within a short amount of time.
However, there is a possibility to scan lots of devices that
(1) requires Remote Name Resolve
(2) is unresponsive to Remote Name Resolve
When this happens, we are stuck to do Remote Name Resolve until all is
done before continue scanning.
This patch adds a time limit to stop us spending too long on remote
name request.

Introducing NAME_REQUEST_FAILED flag that will be sent together with
device found event on name resolve failure. This will provide the
userspace with an information so it can decide not to resolve the
name for these devices in the future.

Check for out-of-bound read was being performed at the end of while
num_reports loop, and would fill journal with false positives. Added
check to beginning of loop processing so that it doesn't get checked
after ptr has been advanced.

This event is received when the controller stops advertising,
specifically for these three reasons:
(a) Connection is successfully created (success).
(b) Timeout is reached (error).
(c) Number of advertising events is reached (error).
(*) This event is NOT generated when the host stops the advertisement.
Refer to the BT spec ver 5.3 vol 4 part E sec 7.7.65.18. Note that the
section was revised from BT spec ver 5.0 vol 2 part E sec 7.7.65.18
which was ambiguous about (*).
Some chips (e.g. RTL8822CE) send this event when the host stops the
advertisement with status = HCI_ERROR_CANCELLED_BY_HOST (due to (*)
above). This is treated as an error and the advertisement will be
removed and userspace will be informed via MGMT event.
On suspend, we are supposed to temporarily disable advertisements,
and continue advertising on resume. However, due to the behavior
above, the advertisements are removed instead.
This patch returns early if HCI_ERROR_CANCELLED_BY_HOST is received.

Although only btusb uses air_mode, and he only handles HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_CVSD
and HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_TRANSP, there is still a very small chance that
ev->air_mode is not equal to 0x2 and 0x3, but notify_evt is initialized to
HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_CVSD or HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_TRANSP. the context is
maybe not correct.
Let us directly use the required function instead of re-initializing it,
so as to restore the original logic and make the code more correct.

Syzbot reported slab-out-of-bounds read in hci_le_adv_report_evt(). The
problem was in missing validaion check.
We should check if data is not malicious and we can read next data block.
If we won't check ptr validness, code can read a way beyond skb->end and
it can cause problems, of course.

This makes hci_suspend_notifier use the hci_*_sync which can be
executed synchronously which is allowed in the suspend_notifier and
simplifies a lot of the handling since the status of each command can
be checked inline so no other work need to be scheduled thus can be
performed without using of a state machine.

If we remove one instance of adv using Set Extended Adv Enable, there
is a possibility of issue occurs when processing the Command Complete
event. Especially, the adv_info might not be found since we already
remove it in hci_req_clear_adv_instance() -> hci_remove_adv_instance().
If that's the case, we will mistakenly proceed to remove all adv
instances instead of just one single instance.
This patch fixes the issue by checking the content of the HCI command
instead of checking whether the adv_info is found.

When SUSPEND_DISCONNECTING bit is set that means Disconnect is pending
but the code was evaluating if the list is empty before calling
hci_conn_del which does the actual cleanup and remove the connection
from the list thus the bit is never cleared causing the suspend

When connecting to a device using an RPA if the address has been
resolved by the controller (types 0x02 and 0x03) the identity address

Address types ADDR_LE_DEV_PUBLIC_RESOLVED and
ADDR_LE_DEV_RANDOM_RESOLVED shall be converted to ADDR_LE_PUBLIC and
ADDR_LE_RANDOM repectively since they are not safe to be used beyond
the scope of the events themselves.

When disconnecting the advertising shall be re-enabled only when the
connection role is slave/peripheral as the central role use advertising
to connect it could end up enabling the instance 0x00 if there are other
advertising instances.

For NOP command, need to cancel work scheduled on cmd_timer,
on receiving command status or commmand complete event.
Below use case might lead to race condition multiple when NOP
commands are queued sequentially:

On receiving event for first NOP, the work scheduled on hdev->cmd_timer
is not cancelled and second NOP is dequeued and sent to controller.
While waiting for an event for second NOP command, work scheduled on
cmd_timer for the first NOP can get scheduled, resulting in sending third
NOP command (sending back to back NOP commands). This might
cause issues at controller side (like memory overrun, controller going
unresponsive) resulting in hci tx timeouts, hardware errors etc.
The fix to this issue is to cancel the delayed work scheduled on
cmd_timer on receiving command status or command complete event for
NOP command (this patch handles NOP command same as any other SIG
command).

LE Enhanced Connection Complete contains the Local RPA used in the
connection which must be used when set otherwise there could problems
when pairing since the address used by the remote stack could be the
Local RPA:

connection. This is only valid when the Own_Address_Type (from the

0x03, and the Controller generated a resolvable private address for the

Code was checking if random_addr and hdev->rpa match without first
checking if the RPA has not been set (BDADDR_ANY), furthermore it was
clearing HCI_RPA_EXPIRED before the command completes and the RPA is
actually programmed which in case of failure would leave the expired
RPA still set.
Since advertising instance have a similar problem the clearing of
HCI_RPA_EXPIRED has been moved to hci_event.c after checking the random
address is in fact the hdev->rap and then proceed to set the expire
timeout.

Syzbot reported a corrupted list in kobject_add_internal [1]. This
happens when multiple HCI_EV_SYNC_CONN_COMPLETE event packets with
status 0 are sent for the same HCI connection. This causes us to
register the device more than once which corrupts the kset list.
As this is forbidden behavior, we add a check for whether we're
trying to process the same HCI_EV_SYNC_CONN_COMPLETE event multiple
times for one connection. If that's the case, the event is invalid, so
we report an error that the device is misbehaving, and ignore the
packet.

elapsing, the Status parameter shall be set to the error code
Advertising Timeout (0x3C).'
'If advertising has terminated because the
Max_Extended_Advertising_Events was reached, the Status parameter
shall be set to the error code Limit Reached (0x43).'

When using controller based address resolution, then the destination
address type during le_conn_complete uses 0x02 & 0x03 if controller
resolves the destination address(RPA).
These address types need to be converted back into either 0x00 0r 0x01

Even with rate limited reporting this is very spammy and since
it is remote device that is providing bogus data there is no
need to report this as error.
Since real_len variable was used only to allow conditional error

During command status or command complete event, the controller may set
ncmd=0 indicating that it is not accepting any more commands. In such a
case, host holds off sending any more commands to the controller. If the
controller doesn't recover from such condition, host will wait forever,
until the user decides that the Bluetooth is broken and may power cycles
the Bluetooth.
This patch triggers the hardware error to reset the controller and
driver when it gets into such state as there is no other wat out.

When an MGMT_EV_DEVICE_CONNECTED event is reported back to the user
space we will set the flags to tell if the established connection is
outbound or not. This is useful for the user space to log better metrics
and error messages.

Some extended advertising hci command complete events are still using
hdev->cur_adv_instance to map the request to the correct advertisement
handle. However, with extended advertising, "current instance" doesn't
make sense as we can have multiple concurrent advertisements. This
change switches these command complete handlers to use the advertising
handle from the request/event, to ensure we will always use the correct
advertising handle regardless of the state of hdev->cur_adv_instance.
This change is tested on hatch and kefka chromebooks and run through
single- and multi-advertising automated tests to confirm callbacks
report tx power to the correct advertising handle, etc.

hci_chan can be created in 2 places: hci_loglink_complete_evt() if
it is an AMP hci_chan, or l2cap_conn_add() otherwise. In theory,
Only AMP hci_chan should be removed by a call to
hci_disconn_loglink_complete_evt(). However, the controller might mess
up, call that function, and destroy an hci_chan which is not initiated
by hci_loglink_complete_evt().
This patch adds a verification that the destroyed hci_chan must have
been init'd by hci_loglink_complete_evt().

During suspend, there are a few scan enable and set event filter
commands that don't need to be sent unless there are actual BR/EDR
devices capable of waking the system. Check the HCI_PSCAN bit before
writing scan enable and use a new dev flag, HCI_EVENT_FILTER_CONFIGURED
to control whether to clear the event filter.

Queries tx power via HCI_LE_Read_Transmit_Power command when the hci
device is initialized, and stores resulting min/max LE power in hdev
struct. If command isn't available (< BT5 support), min/max values
both default to HCI_TX_POWER_INVALID.
This patch is manually verified by ensuring BT5 devices correctly query
and receive controller tx power range.

This patch adds support for the new advertising add interface, with the
first command setting advertising parameters and the second to set
advertising data. The set parameters command allows the caller to leave
some fields "unset", with a params bitfield defining which params were
purposefully set. Unset parameters will be given defaults when calling
hci_add_adv_instance. The data passed to the param mgmt command is
allowed to be flexible, so in the future if bluetoothd passes a larger
structure with new params, the mgmt command will ignore the unknown
members at the end.
This change has been validated on both hatch (extended advertising) and
kukui (no extended advertising) chromebooks running bluetoothd that
support this new interface. I ran the following manual tests:
- Set several (3) advertisements using modified test_advertisement.py
- For each, validate correct data and parameters in btmon trace
- Verified both for software rotation and extended adv
Automatic test suite also run, testing many (25) scenarios of single and
multi-advertising for data/parameter correctness.

AMP_MGR is getting derefernced in hci_phy_link_complete_evt(), when called
from hci_event_packet() and there is a possibility, that hcon->amp_mgr may
not be found when accessing after initialization of hcon.

Currently the code auto-creates hci_conn only if the remote address has
been discovered before. This may not be the case. For example, the
remote device may trigger connection after reboot at already-paired
state so there is no inquiry result found, but it is still correct to
create the hci_conn when Connection Complete event is received.
A better guard is to check against bredr allowlist. Devices in the
allowlist have been given permission to auto-connect.

Emit controller suspend and resume events when we are ready for suspend
and we've resumed from suspend.
The controller suspend event will report whatever suspend state was
successfully entered. The controller resume event will check the first
HCI event that was received after we finished preparing for suspend and,
if it was a connection event, store the address of the peer that caused
the event. If it was not a connection event, we mark the wake reason as
an unexpected event.

When using controller based address resolution, then the new address
types 0x02 and 0x03 are used. These types need to be converted back into
either public address or random address types.
This patch is specially during LE_CREATE_CONN if using own_add_type as 0x02
or 0x03.

This calls hci_update_background_scan() when there is any update on the
advertisement monitors. If there is at least one advertisement monitor,
the filtering policy of scan parameters should be 0x00. This also reports
device found mgmt events if there is at least one monitor.
The following cases were tested with btmgmt advmon-* commands.
(1) add a ADV monitor and observe that the passive scanning is
triggered.
(2) remove the last ADV monitor and observe that the passive scanning is
terminated.
(3) with a LE peripheral paired, repeat (1) and observe the passive
scanning continues.
(4) with a LE peripheral paired, repeat (2) and observe the passive
scanning continues.
(5) with a ADV monitor, suspend/resume the host and observe the passive
scanning continues.

Bluetooth PTS test case HFP/AG/ACC/BI-12-I accepts SCO connection
with invalid parameter at the first SCO request expecting AG to
attempt another SCO request with the use of "safe settings" for
given codec, base on section 5.7.1.2 of HFP 1.7 specification.
This patch addresses it by adding "Invalid LMP Parameters" (0x1e)
to the SCO fallback case. Verified with below log:

After sending Inquiry Cancel command to the controller, it is possible
that Inquiry Complete event comes before Inquiry Cancel command complete
event. In this case the Inquiry Cancel command will have status of
Command Disallowed since there is no Inquiry session to be cancelled.
This case should not be treated as error, otherwise we can reach an
inconsistent state.

The error could indicate a problem with the Bluetooth device. It
is easier to investigate if the packet's actual length gets logged,
not just the fact that a discrepancy occurred.

Micrsoft defined a set for HCI vendor extensions. Check the following

This provides the basic framework to enable the extension and read its
supported features. Drivers still have to declare support for this

With this change, the encryption key size is not assumed to be 16 if the
read_encryption_key_size command fails for any reason. This ensures
that if the controller fails the command for any reason that the
encryption key size isn't implicitely set to 16 and instead take a more
concervative posture to assume it is 0.

In bluetooth core specification 4.2,
Vol 2, Part E, 7.8.9 LE Set Advertise Enable Command, it says
The Controller shall continue advertising until ...
or until a connection is created or ...
In these cases, advertising is then disabled.
Hence, advertising would be disabled before a connection is
established. In current kernel implementation, advertising would
be re-enabled when all connections are terminated.
The correct disconnection flow looks like

Specifically, the last Disconnect Complete Event would trigger a
callback function hci_event.c:hci_disconn_complete_evt() to
cleanup the connection and re-enable advertising when proper.
However, sometimes, there might occur an exception in the controller
when disconnection is being executed. The disconnection flow might
then look like

Note that "> HCI Event: Disconnect Complete" is missing when such an
exception occurs. This would result in advertising staying disabled

To handle BR/EDR devices, we first disable page scan and disconnect all
connected devices. Once that is complete, we add event filters (for
devices that can wake the system) and re-enable page scan.

This change introduces a wide band speech setting which allows higher
level clients to query the local controller support for wide band speech
as well as set the setting state when the radio is powered off.
Internally, this setting controls if erroneous data reporting is enabled
on the controller.

Attack scenario:
1. A Chromebook (let's call this device A) is paired to a legitimate
Bluetooth classic device (e.g. a speaker) (let's call this device
B).
2. A malicious device (let's call this device C) pretends to be the
Bluetooth speaker by using the same BT address.
3. If device A is not currently connected to device B, device A will
be ready to accept connection from device B in the background
(technically, doing Page Scan).
4. Therefore, device C can initiate connection to device A
(because device A is doing Page Scan) and device A will accept the
connection because device A trusts device C's address which is the
same as device B's address.
5. Device C won't be able to communicate at any high level Bluetooth
profile with device A because device A enforces that device C is
encrypted with their common Link Key, which device C doesn't have.
But device C can initiate pairing with device A with just-works
model without requiring user interaction (there is only pairing
notification). After pairing, device A now trusts device C with a
new different link key, common between device A and C.
6. From now on, device A trusts device C, so device C can at anytime
connect to device A to do any kind of high-level hijacking, e.g.
speaker hijack or mouse/keyboard hijack.
Since we don't know whether the repairing is legitimate or not,
leave the decision to user space if all the conditions below are met.

Problem: The Linux Bluetooth stack yields complete control over the BLE
connection interval to the remote device.
The Linux Bluetooth stack provides access to the BLE connection interval
min and max values through /sys/kernel/debug/bluetooth/hci0/
conn_min_interval and /sys/kernel/debug/bluetooth/hci0/conn_max_interval.
These values are used for initial BLE connections, but the remote device
has the ability to request a connection parameter update. In the event
that the remote side requests to change the connection interval, the Linux
kernel currently only validates that the desired value is within the
acceptable range in the Bluetooth specification (6 - 3200, corresponding to
7.5ms - 4000ms). There is currently no validation that the desired value
requested by the remote device is within the min/max limits specified in
the conn_min_interval/conn_max_interval configurations. This essentially
leads to Linux yielding complete control over the connection interval to
the remote device.
The proposed patch adds a verification step to the connection parameter
update mechanism, ensuring that the desired value is within the min/max
bounds of the current connection. If the desired value is outside of the
current connection min/max values, then the connection parameter update
request is rejected and the negative response is returned to the remote
device. Recall that the initial connection is established using the local
conn_min_interval/conn_max_interval values, so this allows the Linux
administrator to retain control over the BLE connection interval.
The one downside that I see is that the current default Linux values for
conn_min_interval and conn_max_interval typically correspond to 30ms and
50ms respectively. If this change were accepted, then it is feasible that
some devices would no longer be able to negotiate to their desired
connection interval values. This might be remedied by setting the default
Linux conn_min_interval and conn_max_interval values to the widest
supported range (6 - 3200 / 7.5ms - 4000ms). This could lead to the same
behavior as the current implementation, where the remote device could
request to change the connection interval value to any value that is
permitted by the Bluetooth specification, and Linux would accept the
desired value.

This commit makes the kernel not send the next queued HCI command until
a command complete arrives for the last HCI command sent to the
controller. This change avoids a problem with some buggy controllers
(seen on two SKUs of QCA9377) that send an extra command complete event
for the previous command after the kernel had already sent a new HCI
command to the controller.
The problem was reproduced when starting an active scanning procedure,
where an extra command complete event arrives for the LE_SET_RANDOM_ADDR
command. When this happends the kernel ends up not processing the
command complete for the following commmand, LE_SET_SCAN_PARAM, and
ultimately behaving as if a passive scanning procedure was being
performed, when in fact controller is performing an active scanning
procedure. This makes it impossible to discover BLE devices as no device
found events are sent to userspace.
This problem is reproducible on 100% of the attempts on the affected
controllers. The extra command complete event can be seen at timestamp
27.420131 on the btmon logs bellow.

In case a command which completes in Command Status was sent using the
hci_cmd_send-family of APIs there would be a misleading error in the
hci_get_cmd_complete function, since the code would be trying to fetch
the Command Complete parameters when there are none.
Avoid the misleading error and silently bail out from the function in
case the received event is a command status.

This event comes after connection complete event for incoming
connections. Since we now have different random address for
each instance, conn resp address is assigned from this event.
As of now only connection part is handled as we are not
enabling duration or max num of events while starting ext adv.

This basically sets the random address for the adv instance
Random address can be set only if the instance is created which
is done in Set ext adv param.
Random address and rpa expire timer and flags have been added
to adv instance which will be used when the respective
instance is scheduled.
This introduces a hci_get_random_address() which returns the
own address type and random address (rpa or nrpa) based
on the instance flags and hdev flags. New function is required
since own address type should be known before setting adv params
but address can be set only after setting params.

This patch basically replaces legacy adv with extended adv
based on the controller support. Currently there is no
design change. ie only one adv set will be enabled at a time.
This also adds tx_power in instance and store whatever returns
from Set_ext_parameter, use the same in adv data as well.
For instance 0 tx_power is stored in hdev only.

This implements Set extended scan param and set extended scan enable
commands and use it for start LE scan based on controller support.
The new features added in these commands are setting of new PHY for
scanning and setting of scan duration. Both features are disabled
for now, meaning only 1M PHY is set and scan duration is set to 0
which means that scanning will be done untill scan disable is called.

Introduce a helper hci_req_start_scan() which starts an LE
scan and call it from passive_Scan() and active_scan().
There is not functionality change in this patch.
This is basically done to enable extended scanning if the
controller supports which will be done in the subsequent
patch

There are some controllers sending out advertising data with illegal
length value which is longer than HCI_MAX_AD_LENGTH, causing the
buffer last_adv_data overflows. To avoid these controllers from
overflowing the buffer, we do not process the advertisement data
if its length is incorrect.

The HCI_BREDR naming is confusing since it actually stands for Primary
Bluetooth Controller. Which is a term that has been used in the latest
standard. However from a legacy point of view there only really have
been Basic Rate (BR) and Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). Recent versions of
Bluetooth introduced Low Energy (LE) and made this terminology a little
bit confused since Dual Mode Controllers include BR/EDR and LE. To
simplify this the name HCI_PRIMARY stands for the Primary Controller
which can be a single mode or dual mode controller.

In case of buggy controllers send advertising packet types that we
don't know of we should simply ignore them instead of trying to react
to them in some (potentially wrong) way.

This paves the way for eventually performing advertising changes
through the hdev->req_workqueue. Some new APIs need to be exposed from
mgmt.c to hci_request.c and vice-versa, but many of them will go away
once hdev->req_workqueue gets used.

Since Add/Remove Device perform the page scan updates independently
from the HCI command completion we've introduced a potential race when
multiple mgmt commands are queued. Doing the page scan updates through
the req_workqueue ensures that the state changes are performed in a
race-free manner.
At the same time, to make the request helper more widely usable,
extend it to also cover Inquiry Scan changes since those are behind
the same HCI command. This is also reflected in the new name of the
API as well as the work struct name.

The SKB context buffer for HCI request is really not just for requests,
information in their are preserved for the whole HCI layer. So it makes
more sense to actually rename it into bt_cb()->hci and also call it then
struct hci_ctrl.
In addition that allows moving the decoded opcode for outgoing packets
into that struct. So far it was just consuming valuable space from the
main shared items. And opcode are not valid for L2CAP packets.

We can't use hci_explicit_connect_lookup() since that would only cover
explicit connections, leaving normal reconnections completely
untouched. Not using it in turn means leaving out entries in
pend_le_reports.
To fix this and simplify the logic move conn params from the reports
list to the pend_le_conns list for the duration of an explicit
connect. Once the connect is complete move the params back to the
pend_le_reports list. This also means that the explicit connect lookup
function only needs to look into the pend_le_conns list.
