78b1b27db9 net/tcp: Remove tcp_hash_fail()
Now there are tracepoints, that cover all functionality of
tcp_hash_fail(), but also wire up missing places
They are also faster, can be disabled and provide filtering.

This potentially may create a regression if a userspace depends on dmesg
logs. Fingers crossed, let's see if anyone complains in reality.

96be3dcd01 net/tcp: Add tcp-md5 and tcp-ao tracepoints
Instead of forcing userspace to parse dmesg (that's what currently is
happening, at least in codebase of my current company), provide a better
way, that can be enabled/disabled in runtime.

Currently, there are already tcp events, add hashing related ones there,
too. Rasdaemon currently exercises net_dev_xmit_timeout,
devlink_health_report, but it'll be trivial to teach it to deal with
failed hashes. Otherwise, BGP may trace/log them itself. Especially
exciting for possible investigations is key rotation (RNext_key
requests).

811efc06e5 net/tcp: Move tcp_inbound_hash() from headers
Two reasons:
1. It's grown up enough
2. In order to not do header spaghetti by including
   <trace/events/tcp.h>, which is necessary for TCP tracepoints.

While at it, unexport and make static tcp_inbound_ao_hash().

f086edef71 tcp: add sysctl_tcp_rto_min_us
Adding a sysctl knob to allow user to specify a default
rto_min at socket init time, other than using the hard

Note that the rto_min route option has the highest precedence
for configuring this setting, followed by the TCP_BPF_RTO_MIN

a46d0ea5c9 tcp: count CLOSE-WAIT sockets for TCP_MIB_CURRESTAB
According to RFC 1213, we should also take CLOSE-WAIT sockets into
consideration:

  "tcpCurrEstab OBJECT-TYPE
   ...
   The number of TCP connections for which the current state
   is either ESTABLISHED or CLOSE- WAIT."

After this, CurrEstab counter will display the total number of
ESTABLISHED and CLOSE-WAIT sockets.

The logic of counting
When we increment the counter?
a) if we change the state to ESTABLISHED.
b) if we change the state from SYN-RECEIVED to CLOSE-WAIT.

When we decrement the counter?
a) if the socket leaves ESTABLISHED and will never go into CLOSE-WAIT,
say, on the client side, changing from ESTABLISHED to FIN-WAIT-1.
b) if the socket leaves CLOSE-WAIT, say, on the server side, changing
from CLOSE-WAIT to LAST-ACK.

Please note: there are two chances that old state of socket can be changed
to CLOSE-WAIT in tcp_fin(). One is SYN-RECV, the other is ESTABLISHED.
So we have to take care of the former case.

a535d59432 net: tls: fix marking packets as decrypted
For TLS offload we mark packets with skb->decrypted to make sure
they don't escape the host without getting encrypted first.
The crypto state lives in the socket, so it may get detached
by a call to skb_orphan(). As a safety check - the egress path
drops all packets with skb->decrypted and no "crypto-safe" socket.

The skb marking was added to sendpage only (and not sendmsg),
because tls_device injected data into the TCP stack using sendpage.
This special case was missed when sendpage got folded into sendmsg.

c084ebd77a tcp: socket option to check for MPTCP fallback to TCP
A way for an application to know if an MPTCP connection fell back to TCP
is to use getsockopt(MPTCP_INFO) and look for errors. The issue with
this technique is that the same errors -- EOPNOTSUPP (IPv4) and
ENOPROTOOPT (IPv6) -- are returned if there was a fallback, *or* if the
kernel doesn't support this socket option. The userspace then has to
look at the kernel version to understand what the errors mean.

It is not clean, and it doesn't take into account older kernels where
the socket option has been backported. A cleaner way would be to expose
this info to the TCP socket level. In case of MPTCP socket where no
fallback happened, the socket options for the TCP level will be handled
in MPTCP code, in mptcp_getsockopt_sol_tcp(). If not, that will be in
TCP code, in do_tcp_getsockopt(). So MPTCP simply has to set the value
1, while TCP has to set 0.

If the socket option is not supported, one of these two errors will be
reported:
- EOPNOTSUPP (95 - Operation not supported) for MPTCP sockets
- ENOPROTOOPT (92 - Protocol not available) for TCP sockets, e.g. on the
  socket received after an 'accept()', when the client didn't request to
  use MPTCP: this socket will be a TCP one, even if the listen socket
  was an MPTCP one.

With this new option, the kernel can return a clear answer to both "Is
this kernel new enough to tell me the fallback status?" and "If it is
new enough, is it currently a TCP or MPTCP socket?" questions, while not
breaking the previous method.

94062790ae tcp: defer shutdown(SEND_SHUTDOWN) for TCP_SYN_RECV sockets
TCP_SYN_RECV state is really special, it is only used by
cross-syn connections, mostly used by fuzzers.

In the following crash [1], syzbot managed to trigger a divide
by zero in tcp_rcv_space_adjust()

A socket makes the following state transitions,
without ever calling tcp_init_transfer(),
meaning tcp_init_buffer_space() is also not called.

         TCP_CLOSE
connect()
         TCP_SYN_SENT
         TCP_SYN_RECV
shutdown() -> tcp_shutdown(sk, SEND_SHUTDOWN)
         TCP_FIN_WAIT1

To fix this issue, change tcp_shutdown() to not
perform a TCP_SYN_RECV -> TCP_FIN_WAIT1 transition,
which makes no sense anyway.

When tcp_rcv_state_process() later changes socket state
from TCP_SYN_RECV to TCP_ESTABLISH, then look at
sk->sk_shutdown to finally enter TCP_FIN_WAIT1 state,
and send a FIN packet from a sane socket state.

This means tcp_send_fin() can now be called from BH
context, and must use GFP_ATOMIC allocations.

05ea491641 tcp: add support for SO_PEEK_OFF socket option
When reading received messages from a socket with MSG_PEEK, we may want
to read the contents with an offset, like we can do with pread/preadv()
when reading files. Currently, it is not possible to do that.

In this commit, we add support for the SO_PEEK_OFF socket option for TCP,
in a similar way it is done for Unix Domain sockets.

In the iperf3 log examples shown below, we can observe a throughput
improvement of 15-20 % in the direction host->namespace when using the
protocol splicer 'pasta' (https://passt.top).
This is a consistent result.

pasta(1) and passt(1) implement user-mode networking for network
namespaces (containers) and virtual machines by means of a translation
layer between Layer-2 network interface and native Layer-4 sockets
(TCP, UDP, ICMP/ICMPv6 echo).

Received, pending TCP data to the container/guest is kept in kernel
buffers until acknowledged, so the tool routinely needs to fetch new
data from socket, skipping data that was already sent.

At the moment this is implemented using a dummy buffer passed to
recvmsg(). With this change, we don't need a dummy buffer and the
related buffer copy (copy_to_user()) anymore.

passt and pasta are supported in KubeVirt and libvirt/qemu.

9b9fd45869 tcp: tweak tcp_sock_write_txrx size assertion
I forgot 32bit arches might have 64bit alignment for u64

tcp_sock_write_txrx group does not contain pointers,
but two u64 fields. It is possible that on 32bit kernel,
a 32bit hole is before tp->tcp_clock_cache.

I will try to remember a group can be bigger on 32bit

41eecbd712 tcp: replace TCP_SKB_CB(skb)->tcp_tw_isn with a per-cpu field
TCP can transform a TIMEWAIT socket into a SYN_RECV one from
a SYN packet, and the ISN of the SYNACK packet is normally
generated using TIMEWAIT tw_snd_nxt :

tcp_timewait_state_process()
...
    u32 isn = tcptw->tw_snd_nxt + 65535 + 2;
    if (isn == 0)
        isn++;
    TCP_SKB_CB(skb)->tcp_tw_isn = isn;
    return TCP_TW_SYN;

This SYN packet also bypasses normal checks against listen queue
being full or not.

tcp_conn_request()
...
       __u32 isn = TCP_SKB_CB(skb)->tcp_tw_isn;
...
        /* TW buckets are converted to open requests without
         * limitations, they conserve resources and peer is
         * evidently real one.
         */
        if ((syncookies == 2 || inet_csk_reqsk_queue_is_full(sk)) && !isn) {
                want_cookie = tcp_syn_flood_action(sk, rsk_ops->slab_name);
                if (!want_cookie)
                        goto drop;
        }

This was using TCP_SKB_CB(skb)->tcp_tw_isn field in skb.

Unfortunately this field has been accidentally cleared
after the call to tcp_timewait_state_process() returning
TCP_TW_SYN.

Using a field in TCP_SKB_CB(skb) for a temporary state
is overkill.

Switch instead to a per-cpu variable.

As a bonus, we do not have to clear tcp_tw_isn in TCP receive
fast path.
It is temporarily set then cleared only in the TCP_TW_SYN dance.

151c9c724d tcp: properly terminate timers for kernel sockets
We had various syzbot reports about tcp timers firing after
the corresponding netns has been dismantled.

Fortunately Josef Bacik could trigger the issue more often,
and could test a patch I wrote two years ago.

When TCP sockets are closed, we call inet_csk_clear_xmit_timers()
to 'stop' the timers.

inet_csk_clear_xmit_timers() can be called from any context,
including when socket lock is held.
This is the reason it uses sk_stop_timer(), aka del_timer().
This means that ongoing timers might finish much later.

For user sockets, this is fine because each running timer
holds a reference on the socket, and the user socket holds
a reference on the netns.

For kernel sockets, we risk that the netns is freed before
timer can complete, because kernel sockets do not hold
reference on the netns.

This patch adds inet_csk_clear_xmit_timers_sync() function
that using sk_stop_timer_sync() to make sure all timers
are terminated before the kernel socket is released.
Modules using kernel sockets close them in their netns exit()
handler.

Also add sock_not_owned_by_me() helper to get LOCKDEP
support : inet_csk_clear_xmit_timers_sync() must not be called
while socket lock is held.

It is very possible we can revert in the future commit
3a58f13a881e ("net: rds: acquire refcount on TCP sockets")
which attempted to solve the issue in rds only.
(net/smc/af_smc.c and net/mptcp/subflow.c have similar code)

We probably can remove the check_net() tests from
tcp_out_of_resources() and __tcp_close() in the future.

7267e8dcad tcp: Add memory barrier to tcp_push()
On CPUs with weak memory models, reads and updates performed by tcp_push
to the sk variables can get reordered leaving the socket throttled when
it should not. The tasklet running tcp_wfree() may also not observe the
memory updates in time and will skip flushing any packets throttled by
tcp_push(), delaying the sending. This can pathologically cause 40ms
extra latency due to bad interactions with delayed acks.

Adding a memory barrier in tcp_push removes the bug, similarly to the
previous commit bf06200e732d ("tcp: tsq: fix nonagle handling").
smp_mb__after_atomic() is used to not incur in unnecessary overhead
on x86 since not affected.

Patch has been tested using an AWS c7g.2xlarge instance with Ubuntu
22.04 and Apache Tomcat 9.0.83 running the basic servlet below:

import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.OutputStreamWriter;
import java.io.PrintWriter;
import javax.servlet.ServletException;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;

public class HelloWorldServlet extends HttpServlet {
    @Override
    protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
      throws ServletException, IOException {
        response.setContentType("text/html;charset=utf-8");
        OutputStreamWriter osw = new OutputStreamWriter(response.getOutputStream(),"UTF-8");
        String s = "a".repeat(3096);
        osw.write(s,0,s.length());
        osw.flush();
    }
}

Load was applied using wrk2 (https://github.com/kinvolk/wrk2) from an AWS
c6i.8xlarge instance. Before the patch an additional 40ms latency from P99.99+
values is observed while, with the patch, the extra latency disappears.

3e7aeb78ab Networking changes for 6.8.
Core & protocols
 ----------------

  - Analyze and reorganize core networking structs (socks, netdev,
    netns, mibs) to optimize cacheline consumption and set up
    build time warnings to safeguard against future header changes.
    This improves TCP performances with many concurrent connections
    up to 40%.

  - Add page-pool netlink-based introspection, exposing the
    memory usage and recycling stats. This helps indentify
    bad PP users and possible leaks.

  - Refine TCP/DCCP source port selection to no longer favor even
    source port at connect() time when IP_LOCAL_PORT_RANGE is set.
    This lowers the time taken by connect() for hosts having
    many active connections to the same destination.

  - Refactor the TCP bind conflict code, shrinking related socket
    structs.

  - Refactor TCP SYN-Cookie handling, as a preparation step to
    allow arbitrary SYN-Cookie processing via eBPF.

  - Tune optmem_max for 0-copy usage, increasing the default value
    to 128KB and namespecifying it.

  - Allow coalescing for cloned skbs coming from page pools, improving
    RX performances with some common configurations.

  - Reduce extension header parsing overhead at GRO time.

  - Add bridge MDB bulk deletion support, allowing user-space to
    request the deletion of matching entries.

  - Reorder nftables struct members, to keep data accessed by the
    datapath first.

  - Introduce TC block ports tracking and use. This allows supporting
    multicast-like behavior at the TC layer.

  - Remove UAPI support for retired TC qdiscs (dsmark, CBQ and ATM) and
    classifiers (RSVP and tcindex).

  - More data-race annotations.

  - Extend the diag interface to dump TCP bound-only sockets.

  - Conditional notification of events for TC qdisc class and actions.

  - Support for WPAN dynamic associations with nearby devices, to form
    a sub-network using a specific PAN ID.

  - Implement SMCv2.1 virtual ISM device support.

  - Add support for Batman-avd mulicast packet type.

 BPF
 ---

  - Tons of verifier improvements:
    - BPF register bounds logic and range support along with a large
      test suite
    - log improvements
    - complete precision tracking support for register spills
    - track aligned STACK_ZERO cases as imprecise spilled registers. It
      improves the verifier "instructions processed" metric from single
      digit to 50-60% for some programs
    - support for user's global BPF subprogram arguments with few
      commonly requested annotations for a better developer experience
    - support tracking of BPF_JNE which helps cases when the compiler
      transforms (unsigned) "a > 0" into "if a == 0 goto xxx" and the
      like
    - several fixes

  - Add initial TX metadata implementation for AF_XDP with support in
    mlx5 and stmmac drivers. Two types of offloads are supported right
    now, that is, TX timestamp and TX checksum offload.

  - Fix kCFI bugs in BPF all forms of indirect calls from BPF into
    kernel and from kernel into BPF work with CFI enabled. This allows
    BPF to work with CONFIG_FINEIBT=y.

  - Change BPF verifier logic to validate global subprograms lazily
    instead of unconditionally before the main program, so they can be
    guarded using BPF CO-RE techniques.

  - Support uid/gid options when mounting bpffs.

  - Add a new kfunc which acquires the associated cgroup of a task
    within a specific cgroup v1 hierarchy where the latter is identified
    by its id.

  - Extend verifier to allow bpf_refcount_acquire() of a map value field
    obtained via direct load which is a use-case needed in sched_ext.

  - Add BPF link_info support for uprobe multi link along with bpftool
    integration for the latter.

  - Support for VLAN tag in XDP hints.

  - Remove deprecated bpfilter kernel leftovers given the project
    is developed in user-space (https://github.com/facebook/bpfilter).

 Misc
 ----

  - Support for parellel TC self-tests execution.

  - Increase MPTCP self-tests coverage.

  - Updated the bridge documentation, including several so-far
    undocumented features.

  - Convert all the net self-tests to run in unique netns, to
    avoid random failures due to conflict and allow concurrent
    runs.

  - Add TCP-AO self-tests.

  - Add kunit tests for both cfg80211 and mac80211.

  - Autogenerate Netlink families documentation from YAML spec.

  - Add yml-gen support for fixed headers and recursive nests, the
    tool can now generate user-space code for all genetlink families
    for which we have specs.

  - A bunch of additional module descriptions fixes.

  - Catch incorrect freeing of pages belonging to a page pool.

 Driver API
 ----------

  - Rust abstractions for network PHY drivers; do not cover yet the
    full C API, but already allow implementing functional PHY drivers
    in rust.

Merge tag 'net-next-6.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net-next

Pull networking updates from Paolo Abeni:
 "The most interesting thing is probably the networking structs
  reorganization and a significant amount of changes is around
  self-tests.

  Core & protocols:

   - Analyze and reorganize core networking structs (socks, netdev,
     netns, mibs) to optimize cacheline consumption and set up build
     time warnings to safeguard against future header changes

     This improves TCP performances with many concurrent connections up
     to 40%

   - Add page-pool netlink-based introspection, exposing the memory
     usage and recycling stats. This helps indentify bad PP users and
     possible leaks

   - Refine TCP/DCCP source port selection to no longer favor even
     source port at connect() time when IP_LOCAL_PORT_RANGE is set. This
     lowers the time taken by connect() for hosts having many active
     connections to the same destination

   - Refactor the TCP bind conflict code, shrinking related socket
     structs

   - Refactor TCP SYN-Cookie handling, as a preparation step to allow
     arbitrary SYN-Cookie processing via eBPF

   - Tune optmem_max for 0-copy usage, increasing the default value to
     128KB and namespecifying it

   - Allow coalescing for cloned skbs coming from page pools, improving
     RX performances with some common configurations

   - Reduce extension header parsing overhead at GRO time

   - Add bridge MDB bulk deletion support, allowing user-space to
     request the deletion of matching entries

   - Reorder nftables struct members, to keep data accessed by the
     datapath first

   - Introduce TC block ports tracking and use. This allows supporting
     multicast-like behavior at the TC layer

   - Remove UAPI support for retired TC qdiscs (dsmark, CBQ and ATM) and
     classifiers (RSVP and tcindex)

   - More data-race annotations

   - Extend the diag interface to dump TCP bound-only sockets

   - Conditional notification of events for TC qdisc class and actions

   - Support for WPAN dynamic associations with nearby devices, to form
     a sub-network using a specific PAN ID

   - Implement SMCv2.1 virtual ISM device support

   - Add support for Batman-avd mulicast packet type

  BPF:

   - Tons of verifier improvements:
       - BPF register bounds logic and range support along with a large
         test suite
       - log improvements
       - complete precision tracking support for register spills
       - track aligned STACK_ZERO cases as imprecise spilled registers.
         This improves the verifier "instructions processed" metric from
         single digit to 50-60% for some programs
       - support for user's global BPF subprogram arguments with few
         commonly requested annotations for a better developer
         experience
       - support tracking of BPF_JNE which helps cases when the compiler
         transforms (unsigned) "a > 0" into "if a == 0 goto xxx" and the
         like
       - several fixes

   - Add initial TX metadata implementation for AF_XDP with support in
     mlx5 and stmmac drivers. Two types of offloads are supported right
     now, that is, TX timestamp and TX checksum offload

   - Fix kCFI bugs in BPF all forms of indirect calls from BPF into
     kernel and from kernel into BPF work with CFI enabled. This allows
     BPF to work with CONFIG_FINEIBT=y

   - Change BPF verifier logic to validate global subprograms lazily
     instead of unconditionally before the main program, so they can be
     guarded using BPF CO-RE techniques

   - Support uid/gid options when mounting bpffs

   - Add a new kfunc which acquires the associated cgroup of a task
     within a specific cgroup v1 hierarchy where the latter is
     identified by its id

   - Extend verifier to allow bpf_refcount_acquire() of a map value
     field obtained via direct load which is a use-case needed in
     sched_ext

   - Add BPF link_info support for uprobe multi link along with bpftool
     integration for the latter

   - Support for VLAN tag in XDP hints

   - Remove deprecated bpfilter kernel leftovers given the project is
     developed in user-space (https://github.com/facebook/bpfilter)

  Misc:

   - Support for parellel TC self-tests execution

   - Increase MPTCP self-tests coverage

   - Updated the bridge documentation, including several so-far
     undocumented features

   - Convert all the net self-tests to run in unique netns, to avoid
     random failures due to conflict and allow concurrent runs

   - Add TCP-AO self-tests

   - Add kunit tests for both cfg80211 and mac80211

   - Autogenerate Netlink families documentation from YAML spec

   - Add yml-gen support for fixed headers and recursive nests, the tool
     can now generate user-space code for all genetlink families for
     which we have specs

   - A bunch of additional module descriptions fixes

   - Catch incorrect freeing of pages belonging to a page pool

  Driver API:

   - Rust abstractions for network PHY drivers; do not cover yet the
     full C API, but already allow implementing functional PHY drivers
     in rust

   - Introduce queue and NAPI support in the netdev Netlink interface,
     allowing complete access to the device <> NAPIs <> queues
     relationship

   - Introduce notifications filtering for devlink to allow control
     application scale to thousands of instances

   - Improve PHY validation, requesting rate matching information for
     each ethtool link mode supported by both the PHY and host

   - Add support for ethtool symmetric-xor RSS hash

   - ACPI based Wifi band RFI (WBRF) mitigation feature for the AMD

d5fed5addb tcp: reorganize tcp_sock fast path variables
The variables are organized according in the following way:

- TX read-mostly hotpath cache lines
- TXRX read-mostly hotpath cache lines
- RX read-mostly hotpath cache lines
- TX read-write hotpath cache line
- TXRX read-write hotpath cache line
- RX read-write hotpath cache line

Fastpath cachelines end after rcvq_space.

Cache line boundaries are enforced only between read-mostly and
read-write. That is, if read-mostly tx cachelines bleed into
read-mostly txrx cachelines, we do not care. We care about the
boundaries between read and write cachelines because we want
to prevent false sharing.

Fast path variables span cache lines before change: 12
Fast path variables span cache lines after change: 8

58d3aade20 tcp: fix mid stream window clamp.
After the blamed commit below, if the user-space application performs
window clamping when tp->rcv_wnd is 0, the TCP socket will never be
able to announce a non 0 receive window, even after completely emptying
the receive buffer and re-setting the window clamp to higher values.

Refactor tcp_set_window_clamp() to address the issue: when the user
decreases the current clamp value, set rcv_ssthresh according to the
same logic used at buffer initialization, but ensuring reserved mem
provisioning.

To avoid code duplication factor-out the relevant bits from
tcp_adjust_rcv_ssthresh() in a new helper and reuse it in the above
scenario.

When increasing the clamp value, give the rcv_ssthresh a chance to grow
according to previously implemented heuristic.

The code is inspired by the ->lhash2 loop. However there's no manual
test of the source port, since this kind of filtering is already
handled by inet_diag_bc_sk(). Also, a maximum of 16 sockets are dumped
at a time, to avoid running with bh disabled for too long.

There's no TCP state for bound but otherwise inactive sockets. Such
sockets normally map to TCP_CLOSE. However, "ss -l", which is supposed
to only dump listening sockets, actually requests the kernel to dump
sockets in either the TCP_LISTEN or TCP_CLOSE states. To avoid dumping
bound-only sockets with "ss -l", we therefore need to define a new
pseudo-state (TCP_BOUND_INACTIVE) that user space will be able to set
explicitly.

With an IPv4, an IPv6 and an IPv6-only socket, bound respectively to
40000, 64000, 60000, an updated version of iproute2 could work as
follow:

  $ ss -t state bound-inactive
  Recv-Q   Send-Q     Local Address:Port       Peer Address:Port   Process
  0        0                0.0.0.0:40000           0.0.0.0:*
  0        0                   [::]:60000              [::]:*
  0        0                      *:64000                 *:*

ef84703a91 net/tcp: Add TCP-AO getsockopt()s
Introduce getsockopt(TCP_AO_GET_KEYS) that lets a user get TCP-AO keys
and their properties from a socket. The user can provide a filter
to match the specific key to be dumped or ::get_all = 1 may be
used to dump all keys in one syscall.

Add another getsockopt(TCP_AO_INFO) for providing per-socket/per-ao_info
stats: packet counters, Current_key/RNext_key and flags like
::ao_required and ::accept_icmps.

0a3a809089 net/tcp: Verify inbound TCP-AO signed segments
Now there is a common function to verify signature on TCP segments:
tcp_inbound_hash(). It has checks for all possible cross-interactions
with MD5 signs as well as with unsigned segments.

The rules from RFC5925 are:
(1) Any TCP segment can have at max only one signature.
(2) TCP connections can't switch between using TCP-MD5 and TCP-AO.
(3) TCP-AO connections can't stop using AO, as well as unsigned
    connections can't suddenly start using AO.

4954f17dde net/tcp: Introduce TCP_AO setsockopt()s
Add 3 setsockopt()s:
1. TCP_AO_ADD_KEY to add a new Master Key Tuple (MKT) on a socket
2. TCP_AO_DEL_KEY to delete present MKT from a socket
3. TCP_AO_INFO to change flags, Current_key/RNext_key on a TCP-AO sk

Userspace has to introduce keys on every socket it wants to use TCP-AO
option on, similarly to TCP_MD5SIG/TCP_MD5SIG_EXT.
RFC5925 prohibits definition of MKTs that would match the same peer,
so do sanity checks on the data provided by userspace. Be as
conservative as possible, including refusal of defining MKT on
an established connection with no AO, removing the key in-use and etc.

(1) and (2) are to be used by userspace key manager to add/remove keys.
(3) main purpose is to set RNext_key, which (as prescribed by RFC5925)
is the KeyID that will be requested in TCP-AO header from the peer to
sign their segments with.

At this moment the life of ao_info ends in tcp_v4_destroy_sock().

8c73b26315 net/tcp: Prepare tcp_md5sig_pool for TCP-AO
TCP-AO, similarly to TCP-MD5, needs to allocate tfms on a slow-path,
which is setsockopt() and use crypto ahash requests on fast paths,
which are RX/TX softirqs. Also, it needs a temporary/scratch buffer
for preparing the hash.

Rework tcp_md5sig_pool in order to support other hashing algorithms
than MD5. It will make it possible to share pre-allocated crypto_ahash
descriptors and scratch area between all TCP hash users.

Internally tcp_sigpool calls crypto_clone_ahash() API over pre-allocated
crypto ahash tfm. Kudos to Herbert, who provided this new crypto API.

I was a little concerned over GFP_ATOMIC allocations of ahash and
crypto_request in RX/TX (see tcp_sigpool_start()), so I benchmarked both
"backends" with different algorithms, using patched version of iperf3[2].
On my laptop with i7-7600U @ 2.80GHz:

                         clone-tfm                per-CPU-requests
TCP-MD5                  2.25 Gbits/sec           2.30 Gbits/sec
TCP-AO(hmac(sha1))       2.53 Gbits/sec           2.54 Gbits/sec
TCP-AO(hmac(sha512))     1.67 Gbits/sec           1.64 Gbits/sec
TCP-AO(hmac(sha384))     1.77 Gbits/sec           1.80 Gbits/sec
TCP-AO(hmac(sha224))     1.29 Gbits/sec           1.30 Gbits/sec
TCP-AO(hmac(sha3-512))    481 Mbits/sec            480 Mbits/sec
TCP-AO(hmac(md5))        2.07 Gbits/sec           2.12 Gbits/sec
TCP-AO(hmac(rmd160))     1.01 Gbits/sec            995 Mbits/sec
TCP-AO(cmac(aes128))     [not supporetd yet]      2.11 Gbits/sec

So, it seems that my concerns don't have strong grounds and per-CPU
crypto_request allocation can be dropped/removed from tcp_sigpool once
ciphers get crypto_clone_ahash() support.

614e8316aa tcp: add support for usec resolution in TCP TS values
Back in 2015, Van Jacobson suggested to use usec resolution in TCP TS values.
This has been implemented in our private kernels.

Goals were :

1) better observability of delays in networking stacks.
2) better disambiguation of events based on TSval/ecr values.
3) building block for congestion control modules needing usec resolution.

Back then we implemented a schem based on private SYN options
to negotiate the feature.

For upstream submission, we chose to use a route attribute,
because this feature is probably going to be used in private
networks [1] [2].

ip route add 10/8 ... features tcp_usec_ts

Note that RFC 7323 recommends a
  "timestamp clock frequency in the range 1 ms to 1 sec per tick.",
but also mentions
  "the maximum acceptable clock frequency is one tick every 59 ns."

[1] Unfortunately RFC 7323 5.5 (Outdated Timestamps) suggests
to invalidate TS.Recent values after a flow was idle for more
than 24 days. This is the part making usec_ts a problem
for peers following this recommendation for long living
idle flows.

[2] Attempts to standardize usec ts went nowhere:
