ad9758fdaf vdpa/mlx5: Set an initial size on the VQ
The virtqueue size is a pre-requisite for setting up any virtqueue
resources. For the upcoming optimization of creating virtqueues at
device add, the virtqueue size has to be configured.

The queue size check in setup_vq() will always be false. So remove it.

e5bcbd1de6 vdpa/mlx5: Clear and reinitialize software VQ data on reset
The hardware VQ configuration is mirrored by data in struct
mlx5_vdpa_virtqueue . Instead of clearing just a few fields at reset,
fully clear the struct and initialize with the appropriate default
values.

As clear_vqs_ready() is used only during reset, get rid of it.

1835ed4a5d vdpa/mlx5: Initialize and reset device with one queue pair
The virtio spec says that a vdpa device should start off with one queue
pair. The driver is already compliant.

This patch moves the initialization to device add and reset times. This
is done in preparation for the pre-creation of hardware virtqueues at
device add time.

4c90a60ac2 vdpa/mlx5: Drop redundant code
Originally, the second loop initialized the CVQ. But (acde3929492b
("vdpa/mlx5: Use consistent RQT size") initialized all the queues in the
first loop, so the second iteration in init_mvqs() is never called
because the first one will iterate up to max_vqs.

1f5d6476f1 vdpa/mlx5: Clarify meaning thorough function rename
setup_driver()/teardown_driver() are a bit vague. These functions are
used for virtqueue resources.

Same for alloc_resources()/teardown_resources(): they represent fixed
resources that are meant to exist during the device lifetime.

8b6c724cda virtio: vdpa: vDPA driver for Marvell OCTEON DPU devices
This commit introduces a new vDPA driver specifically designed for
managing the virtio control plane over the vDPA bus for OCTEON DPU
devices. The driver consists of two layers:

1. Octep HW Layer (Octeon Endpoint): Responsible for handling hardware
operations and configurations related to the DPU device.

2. Octep Main Layer: Compliant with the vDPA bus framework, this layer
implements device operations for the vDPA bus. It handles device
probing, bus attachment, vring operations, and other relevant tasks.

4d685629b7 vp_vdpa: don't allocate unused msix vectors
When there is a ctlq and it doesn't require interrupt
callbacks,the original method of calculating vectors
wastes hardware msi or msix resources as well as system
IRQ resources.

When conducting performance testing using testpmd in the
guest os, it was found that the performance was lower compared
to directly using vfio-pci to passthrough the device

In scenarios where the virtio device in the guest os does
not utilize interrupts, the vdpa driver still configures
the hardware's msix vector. Therefore, the hardware still
sends interrupts to the host os. Because of this unnecessary
action by the hardware, hardware performance decreases, and
it also affects the performance of the host os.

7b1b5c7fff vdpa: Convert sprintf/snprintf to sysfs_emit
Per filesystems/sysfs.rst, show() should only use sysfs_emit()
or sysfs_emit_at() when formatting the value to be returned to user space.

coccinelle complains that there are still a couple of functions that use
snprintf(). Convert them to sysfs_emit().

sprintf() will be converted as weel if they have.

Generally, this patch is generated by
make coccicheck M=<path/to/file> MODE=patch \
COCCI=scripts/coccinelle/api/device_attr_show.cocci

f181a3736b vp_vdpa: Fix return value check vp_vdpa_request_irq
In the vp_vdpa_set_status function, when setting the device status to
VIRTIO_CONFIG_S_DRIVER_OK, the vp_vdpa_request_irq function may fail.
In such cases, the device status should not be set to DRIVER_OK. Add
exception printing to remind the user.

894452180d vduse: enable Virtio-net device type
This patch adds Virtio-net device type to the supported
devices types.

Initialization fails if the device does not support
VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1 feature, in order to guarantee the
configuration space is read-only. It also fails with
-EPERM if the CAP_NET_ADMIN is missing.

56e71885b0 vduse: Temporarily fail if control queue feature requested
Virtio-net driver control queue implementation is not safe
when used with VDUSE. If the VDUSE application does not
reply to control queue messages, it currently ends up
hanging the kernel thread sending this command.

Some work is on-going to make the control queue
implementation robust with VDUSE. Until it is completed,
let's fail features check if control-queue feature is
requested.

a115b5716f vduse: validate block features only with block devices
This patch is preliminary work to enable network device
type support to VDUSE.

As VIRTIO_BLK_F_CONFIG_WCE shares the same value as
VIRTIO_NET_F_HOST_TSO4, we need to restrict its check

56d61ae558 vDPA/ifcvf: implement vdpa_config_ops.get_vq_num_min
IFCVF HW supports operation with vq size less than the max size,
as the spec required.

This commit implements vdpa_config_ops.get_vq_num_min to report
the minimal size of the virtqueues, which gives vDPA framework
a chance to reduce the vring size.

We need at least one descriptor to be functional, but it is better
no less than 64 to meet ceratin performance requirements.
Actually the framework would allocate at least a PAGE for the vq.

d7b4e3287c vduse: implement DMA sync callbacks
Since commit 295525e29a5b ("virtio_net: merge dma
operations when filling mergeable buffers"), VDUSE device
require support for DMA's .sync_single_for_cpu() operation
as the memory is non-coherent between the device and CPU
because of the use of a bounce buffer.

This patch implements both .sync_single_for_cpu() and
.sync_single_for_device() callbacks, and also skip bounce
buffer copies during DMA map and unmap operations if the
DMA_ATTR_SKIP_CPU_SYNC attribute is set to avoid extra
copies of the same buffer.

749a401683 vdpa/mlx5: Allow CVQ size changes
The MLX driver was not updating its control virtqueue size at set_vq_num
and instead always initialized to MLX5_CVQ_MAX_ENT (16) at
setup_cvq_vring.

Qemu would try to set the size to 64 by default, however, because the
CVQ size always was initialized to 16, an error would be thrown when
sending >16 control messages (as used-ring entry 17 is initialized to 0).
For example, starting a guest with x-svq=on and then executing the
following command would produce the error below:

9588e7fc51 vdpa_sim: reset must not run
vdpasim_do_reset sets running to true, which is wrong, as it allows
vdpasim_kick_vq to post work requests before the device has been
configured.  To fix, do not set running until VIRTIO_CONFIG_S_DRIVER_OK

a06bd11b18 vdpa/mlx5: Introduce reference counting to mrs
Deleting the old mr during mr update (.set_map) and then modifying the
vqs with the new mr is not a good flow for firmware. The firmware
expects that mkeys are deleted after there are no more vqs referencing
them.

Introduce reference counting for mrs to fix this. It is the only way to
make sure that mkeys are not in use by vqs.

An mr reference is taken when the mr is associated to the mr asid table
and when the mr is linked to the vq on create/modify. The reference is
released when the mkey is unlinked from the vq (trough modify/destroy)
and from the mr asid table.

To make things consistent, get rid of mlx5_vdpa_destroy_mr and use
get/put semantics everywhere.

f756dd3e2a vdpa/mlx5: Use vq suspend/resume during .set_map
Instead of tearing down and setting up vq resources, use vq
suspend/resume during .set_map to speed things up a bit.

The vq mr is updated with the new mapping while the vqs are suspended.

If the device doesn't support resumable vqs, do the old teardown and
setup dance.

.set_vq_state will set the indices and mark the fields to be modified in
the hw vq.

Advertise that the device supports changing the vq state when the device
is in DRIVER_OK state and suspended.
