The set of bits that the VXLAN netdevice currently considers reserved is
defined by the features enabled at the netdevice construction. In order to
make this configurable, add an attribute, IFLA_VXLAN_RESERVED_BITS. The
payload is a pair of big-endian u32's covering the VXLAN header. This is
validated against the set of flags used by the various enabled VXLAN
features, and attempts to override bits used by an enabled feature are
bounced.

The code currently validates the VXLAN header in two ways: first by
comparing it with the set of reserved bits, constructed ahead of time
during the netdevice construction; and second by gradually clearing the
bits off a separate copy of VXLAN header, "unparsed". Drop the latter
validation method.

In order to make it possible to configure which bits in VXLAN header should
be considered reserved, introduce a new field vxlan_config::reserved_bits.
Have it cover the whole header, except for the VNI-present bit and the bits
for VNI itself, and have individual enabled features clear more bits off
reserved_bits.
(This is expressed as first constructing a used_bits set, and then
inverting it to get the reserved_bits. The set of used_bits will be useful
on its own for validation of user-set reserved_bits in a following patch.)
The patch also moves a comment relevant to the validation from the unparsed
validation site up to the new site. Logically this patch should add the new
comment, and a later patch that removes the unparsed bits would remove the
old comment. But keeping both legs in the same patch is better from the
history spelunking point of view.

Having a named reference to the VXLAN header is more handy than having to
conjure it anew through vxlan_hdr() on every use. Add a new variable and
convert several open-coded sites.
Additionally, convert one "unparsed" use to the new variable as well. Thus
the only "unparsed" uses that remain are the flag-clearing and the header
validity check at the end.

The functions vxlan_remcsum() and vxlan_parse_gbp_hdr() take both the SKB
and the unparsed VXLAN header. Now that unparsed adjustment is handled
directly by vxlan_rcv(), drop this argument, and have the function derive
it from the SKB on its own.
vxlan_parse_gpe_proto() does not take SKB, so keep the header parameter.
However const it so that it's clear that the intention is that it does not
get changed.

vxlan_sock.flags is constructed from vxlan_dev.cfg.flags, as the subset of
flags (named VXLAN_F_RCV_FLAGS) that is important from the point of view of
socket sharing. Attempts to reconfigure these flags during the vxlan netdev
lifetime are also bounced. It is therefore immaterial whether we access the
flags through the vxlan_dev or through the socket.
Convert the socket accesses to netdevice accesses in this separate patch to
make the conversions that take place in the following patches more obvious.

VXLAN uses the TSTATS infrastructure (dev_sw_netstats_*()) for RX and
TX packet counters. It also uses the device core stats
(dev_core_stats_*()) for RX and TX drops.
Let's consolidate that using the DSTATS infrastructure, which can
handle both packet counters and packet drops. Statistics that don't
fit DSTATS are still updated atomically with DEV_STATS_INC().
While there, convert the "len" variable of vxlan_encap_bypass() to
unsigned int, to respect the types of skb->len and
dev_dstats_[rt]x_add().

Currently when FDB entries are added to or deleted from a VXLAN netdevice,
the VXLAN driver emits one notification, including the VXLAN-specific
attributes. The core however always sends a notification as well, a generic
one. Thus two notifications are unnecessarily sent for these operations. A
similar situation comes up with bridge driver, which also emits
notifications on its own:

In order to prevent this duplicity, add a paremeter to ndo_fdb_add,
bool *notified. The flag is primed to false, and if the callee sends a
notification on its own, it sets it to true, thus informing the core that
it should not generate another notification.

The only concern of mine is replacing dev_kfree_skb with
kfree_skb_reason. The dev_kfree_skb is equal to consume_skb, and I'm not

"dropped" here, isn't it?

Since introduced, vxlan_vnifilter_init() has been ignoring the
returned value of rtnl_register_module(), which could fail silently.
Handling the error allows users to view a module as an all-or-nothing
thing in terms of the rtnetlink functionality. This prevents syzkaller
from reporting spurious errors from its tests, where OOM often occurs
and module is automatically loaded.
Let's handle the errors by rtnl_register_many().

NETIF_F_LLTX can't be changed via Ethtool and is not a feature,
rather an attribute, very similar to IFF_NO_QUEUE (and hot).

Make dev->priv_flags `u32` back and define bits higher than 31 as
bitfield booleans as per Jakub's suggestion. This simplifies code
which accesses these bits with no optimization loss (testb both
before/after), allows to not extend &netdev_priv_flags each time,
but also scales better as bits > 63 in the future would only add
a new u64 to the structure with no complications, comparing to
that extending ::priv_flags would require converting it to a bitmap.
Note that I picked `unsigned long :1` to not lose any potential
optimizations comparing to `bool :1` etc.

The initial value of err is -ENOBUFS, and err is guaranteed to be
less than 0 before all goto errout. Therefore, on the error path
of errout, there is no need to repeatedly judge that err is less than 0,
and delete redundant judgments to make the code more concise.

Ensure the inner IP header is part of the skb's linear data before
setting old_iph. Otherwise, on a non-linear skb, old_iph could point
outside of the packet data.
Unlike classical VXLAN, which always encapsulates Ethernet packets,
VXLAN-GPE can transport IP packets directly. In that case, we need to
look at skb->protocol to figure out if an Ethernet header is present.

Commit f58f45c1e5 ("vxlan: drop packets from invalid src-address")
has recently been added to vxlan mainly in the context of source
address snooping/learning so that when it is enabled, an entry in the
FDB is not being created for an invalid address for the corresponding
tunnel endpoint.
Before commit f58f45c1e5 vxlan was similarly behaving as geneve in
that it passed through whichever macs were set in the L2 header. It
turns out that this change in behavior breaks setups, for example,
Cilium with netkit in L3 mode for Pods as well as tunnel mode has been
passing before the change in f58f45c1e5 for both vxlan and geneve.
After mentioned change it is only passing for geneve as in case of
vxlan packets are dropped due to vxlan_set_mac() returning false as
source and destination macs are zero which for E/W traffic via tunnel
is totally fine.
Fix it by only opting into the is_valid_ether_addr() check in
vxlan_set_mac() when in fact source address snooping/learning is
actually enabled in vxlan. This is done by moving the check into
vxlan_snoop(). With this change, the Cilium connectivity test suite
passes again for both tunnel flavors.

Simon reported that ndo_change_mtu() methods were never
updated to use WRITE_ONCE(dev->mtu, new_mtu) as hinted
in commit 501a90c945 ("inet: protect against too small
mtu values.")
We read dev->mtu without holding RTNL in many places,
with READ_ONCE() annotations.

Ensure the inner IP header is part of skb's linear data before reading
its ECN bits. Otherwise we might read garbage.
One symptom is the system erroneously logging errors like
"vxlan: non-ECT from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with TOS=xxxx".
Similar bugs have been fixed in geneve, ip_tunnel and ip6_tunnel (see
commit 1ca1ba465e ("geneve: make sure to pull inner header in
geneve_rx()") for example). So let's reuse the same code structure for
consistency. Maybe we'll can add a common helper in the future.

VXLAN stores per-VNI statistics using vxlan_vnifilter_count().
These statistics were not updated when arp_reduce() failed its
pskb_may_pull() call.
Use vxlan_vnifilter_count() to update the VNI counter when that
happens.

should either be stored in per-cpu data structures or the updates
should be done using atomic increments.
Since the net_device_core_stats infrastructure is already used in
vxlan_rcv(), use it for the other rx_dropped and tx_dropped counter
updates. Update the other counters atomically using DEV_STATS_INC().

The VXLAN driver currently does not check if the inner layer2
source-address is valid.
In case source-address snooping/learning is enabled, a entry in the FDB
for the invalid address is created with the layer3 address of the tunnel
endpoint.
If the frame happens to have a non-unicast address set, all this
non-unicast traffic is subsequently not flooded to the tunnel network
but sent to the learnt host in the FDB. To make matters worse, this FDB
entry does not expire.
Apply the same filtering for packets as it is done for bridges. This not
only drops these invalid packets but avoids them from being learnt into
the FDB.

Historically, tunnel flags like TUNNEL_CSUM or TUNNEL_ERSPAN_OPT
have been defined as __be16. Now all of those 16 bits are occupied
and there's no more free space for new flags.
It can't be simply switched to a bigger container with no
adjustments to the values, since it's an explicit Endian storage,
and on LE systems (__be16)0x0001 equals to
(__be64)0x0001000000000000.
We could probably define new 64-bit flags depending on the
Endianness, i.e. (__be64)0x0001 on BE and (__be64)0x00010000... on
LE, but that would introduce an Endianness dependency and spawn a
ton of Sparse warnings. To mitigate them, all of those places which
were adjusted with this change would be touched anyway, so why not
define stuff properly if there's no choice.
Define IP_TUNNEL_*_BIT counterparts as a bit number instead of the
value already coded and a fistful of <16 <-> bitmap> converters and
helpers. The two flags which have a different bit position are
SIT_ISATAP_BIT and VTI_ISVTI_BIT, as they were defined not as
__cpu_to_be16(), but as (__force __be16), i.e. had different
positions on LE and BE. Now they both have strongly defined places.
Change all __be16 fields which were used to store those flags, to
IP_TUNNEL_DECLARE_FLAGS() -> DECLARE_BITMAP(__IP_TUNNEL_FLAG_NUM) ->
unsigned long[1] for now, and replace all TUNNEL_* occurrences to
their bitmap counterparts. Use the converters in the places which talk
to the userspace, hardware (NFP) or other hosts (GRE header). The rest
must explicitly use the new flags only. This must be done at once,
otherwise there will be too many conversions throughout the code in
the intermediate commits.
Finally, disable the old __be16 flags for use in the kernel code
(except for the two 'irregular' flags mentioned above), to prevent
any accidental (mis)use of them. For the userspace, nothing is
changed, only additions were made.

The average code size increase in non-extreme case is 100-200 bytes
per module, mostly due to sizeof(long) > sizeof(__be16), as
%__IP_TUNNEL_FLAG_NUM is less than %BITS_PER_LONG and the compilers
are able to expand the majority of bitmap_*() calls here into direct
operations on scalars.

Commit 3e2f544dd8 ("net: get stats64 if device if driver is
configured") moved the callback to dev_get_tstats64() to net core, so,
unless the driver is doing some custom stats collection, it does not
need to set .ndo_get_stats64.
Since this driver is now relying in NETDEV_PCPU_STAT_TSTATS, then, it
doesn't need to set the dev_get_tstats64() generic .ndo_get_stats64
function pointer.

With commit 34d21de99c ("net: Move {l,t,d}stats allocation to core and
convert veth & vrf"), stats allocation could be done on net core
instead of in this driver.
With this new approach, the driver doesn't have to bother with error
handling (allocation failure checking, making sure free happens in the
right spot, etc). This is core responsibility now.
Remove the allocation in the vxlan driver and leverage the network
core allocation instead.

Since commit aed65af1cc ("drivers: make device_type const"), the driver
core can properly handle constant struct device_type. Move the vxlan_type
variable to be a constant structure as well, placing it into read-only
memory which can not be modified at runtime.

exit_batch_rtnl() is called while RTNL is held,
and devices to be unregistered can be queued in the dev_kill_list.
This saves one rtnl_lock()/rtnl_unlock() pair per netns
and one unregister_netdevice_many() call.
