Add a 20-byte field ats to struct nfc_target and expose it as
NFC_ATTR_TARGET_ATS via the netlink interface. The payload contains
'historical bytes' that help to distinguish cards from one another.
The information is commonly used to assemble an emulated ATR similar
to that reported by smart cards with contacts.
Add a 20-byte field target_ats to struct nci_dev to hold the payload
obtained in nci_rf_intf_activated_ntf_packet() and copy it to over to
nfc_target.ats in nci_activate_target(). The approach is similar
to the handling of 'general bytes' within ATR_RES.
Replace the hard-coded size of rats_res within struct
activation_params_nfca_poll_iso_dep by the equal constant NFC_ATS_MAXSIZE
now defined in nfc.h
Within NCI, the information corresponds to the 'RATS Response' activation
parameter that omits the initial length byte TL. This loses no
information and is consistent with our handling of SENSB_RES that
also drops the first (constant) byte.
Tested with nxp_nci_i2c on a few type A targets including an
ICAO 9303 compliant passport.
I refrain from the corresponding change to digital_in_recv_ats()
to have the few drivers based on digital.h fill nfc_target.ats,
as I have no way to test it. That class of drivers appear not to set
NFC_ATTR_TARGET_SENSB_RES either. Consider a separate patch to propagate
(all) the parameters.

Revert "NFC: fix attrs checks in netlink interface"
This reverts commit 18917d5147.
Our checks found weird attrs present check in function
nfc_genl_dep_link_down() and nfc_genl_llc_get_params(), which are
introduced by commit 18917d5147 ("NFC: fix attrs checks in netlink
interface").
According to its message, it should add checks for functions
nfc_genl_deactivate_target() and nfc_genl_fw_download(). However, it
didn't do that. In fact, the expected checks are added by
(1) commit 385097a367 ("nfc: Ensure presence of required attributes in
the deactivate_target handler") and
(2) commit 280e3ebdaf ("nfc: Ensure presence of NFC_ATTR_FIRMWARE_NAME
attribute in nfc_genl_fw_download()"). Perhaps something went wrong.
Anyway, the attr NFC_ATTR_TARGET_INDEX is never accessed in callback
nfc_genl_dep_link_down() and same for NFC_ATTR_FIRMWARE_NAME and
nfc_genl_llc_get_params(). Thus, remove those checks.

In summary, this patch solves those use-after-free by
1. Re-implement the nfc_llcp_find_local(). The current version does not
grab the reference when getting the local from the linked list. For
example, the llcp_sock_bind() gets the reference like below:
// llcp_sock_bind()
local = nfc_llcp_find_local(dev); // A
..... \
| raceable
..... /
llcp_sock->local = nfc_llcp_local_get(local); // B
There is an apparent race window that one can drop the reference
and free the local object fetched in (A) before (B) gets the reference.
2. Some callers of the nfc_llcp_find_local() do not grab the reference
at all. For example, the nfc_genl_llc_{{get/set}_params/sdreq} functions.
We add the nfc_llcp_local_put() for them. Moreover, we add the necessary
error handling function to put the reference.
3. Add the nfc_llcp_remove_local() helper. The local object is removed
from the linked list in local_release() when all reference is gone. This
patch removes it when nfc_llcp_unregister_device() is called.
Therefore, every caller of nfc_llcp_find_local() will get a reference
even when the nfc_llcp_unregister_device() is called. This promises no
use-after-free for the local object is ever possible.

The callback context for sending/receiving APDUs to/from the selected
secure element is allocated inside nfc_genl_se_io and supposed to be
eventually freed in se_io_cb callback function. However, there are several
error paths where the bwi_timer is not charged to call se_io_cb later, and
the cb_context is leaked.
The patch proposes to free the cb_context explicitly on those error paths.
At the moment we can't simply check 'dev->ops->se_io()' return value as it
may be negative in both cases: when the timer was charged and was not.

We had historically not checked that genlmsghdr.reserved

One use case would be to extend the cmd field, which is
currently just 8 bits wide and 256 is not a lot of commands
for some core families.

There are sleep in atomic bug that could cause kernel panic during

The nlmsg_new with GFP_KERNEL parameter may sleep during memory
allocation process, and the timer handler is run as the result of
a "software interrupt" that should not call any other function
that could sleep.
This patch changes allocation mode of netlink message from GFP_KERNEL

Add options to strictly validate messages and dump messages,
sometimes perhaps validating dump messages non-strictly may
be required, so add an option for that as well.
Since none of this can really be applied to existing commands,
set the options everwhere using the following spatch:
@@
identifier ops;
expression X;
@@
struct genl_ops ops[] = {
...,
{
.cmd = X,
+ .validate = GENL_DONT_VALIDATE_STRICT | GENL_DONT_VALIDATE_DUMP,
...
},
...
};
For new commands one should just not copy the .validate 'opt-out'
flags and thus get strict validation.

We currently have two levels of strict validation:
1) liberal (default)
- undefined (type >= max) & NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted
- attribute length >= expected accepted
- garbage at end of message accepted
2) strict (opt-in)
- NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted
- attribute length >= expected accepted
Split out parsing strictness into four different options:
* TRAILING - check that there's no trailing data after parsing
attributes (in message or nested)
* MAXTYPE - reject attrs > max known type
* UNSPEC - reject attributes with NLA_UNSPEC policy entries
* STRICT_ATTRS - strictly validate attribute size
The default for future things should be *everything*.
The current *_strict() is a combination of TRAILING and MAXTYPE,
and is renamed to _deprecated_strict().
The current regular parsing has none of this, and is renamed to
*_parse_deprecated().
Additionally it allows us to selectively set one of the new flags
even on old policies. Notably, the UNSPEC flag could be useful in
this case, since it can be arranged (by filling in the policy) to
not be an incompatible userspace ABI change, but would then going
forward prevent forgetting attribute entries. Similar can apply
to the POLICY flag.
We end up with the following renames:
* nla_parse -> nla_parse_deprecated
* nla_parse_strict -> nla_parse_deprecated_strict
* nlmsg_parse -> nlmsg_parse_deprecated
* nlmsg_parse_strict -> nlmsg_parse_deprecated_strict
* nla_parse_nested -> nla_parse_nested_deprecated
* nla_validate_nested -> nla_validate_nested_deprecated

For this patch, don't actually add the strict, non-renamed versions
yet so that it breaks compile if I get it wrong.
Also, while at it, make nla_validate and nla_parse go down to a
common __nla_validate_parse() function to avoid code duplication.
Ultimately, this allows us to have very strict validation for every
new caller of nla_parse()/nlmsg_parse() etc as re-introduced in the
next patch, while existing things will continue to work as is.
In effect then, this adds fully strict validation for any new command.

Even if the NLA_F_NESTED flag was introduced more than 11 years ago, most
netlink based interfaces (including recently added ones) are still not
setting it in kernel generated messages. Without the flag, message parsers
not aware of attribute semantics (e.g. wireshark dissector or libmnl's
mnl_nlmsg_fprintf()) cannot recognize nested attributes and won't display
the structure of their contents.
Unfortunately we cannot just add the flag everywhere as there may be
userspace applications which check nlattr::nla_type directly rather than
through a helper masking out the flags. Therefore the patch renames
nla_nest_start() to nla_nest_start_noflag() and introduces nla_nest_start()
as a wrapper adding NLA_F_NESTED. The calls which add NLA_F_NESTED manually
are rewritten to use nla_nest_start().
Except for changes in include/net/netlink.h, the patch was generated using
this semantic patch:

Since maxattr is common, the policy can't really differ sanely,
so make it common as well.
The only user that did in fact manage to make a non-common policy
is taskstats, which has to be really careful about it (since it's
still using a common maxattr!). This is no longer supported, but
we can fake it using pre_doit.
This reduces the size of e.g. nl80211.o (which has lots of commands):
text data bss dec hex filename
398745 14323 2240 415308 6564c net/wireless/nl80211.o (before)
397913 14331 2240 414484 65314 net/wireless/nl80211.o (after)
--------------------------------
-832 +8 0 -824
Which is obviously just 8 bytes for each command, and an added 8
bytes for the new policy pointer. I'm not sure why the ops list is
counted as .text though.
Most of the code transformations were done using the following spatch:
@ops@
identifier OPS;
expression POLICY;
@@
struct genl_ops OPS[] = {
...,
{
- .policy = POLICY,
},
...
};
@@
identifier ops.OPS;

According to the description, first argument of genlmsg_nlhdr() points to
what genlmsg_put() returns, i.e. beginning of user header. Therefore we
should only subtract size of genetlink header and netlink message header,
not user header.
This also means we don't need to pass the pointer to genetlink family and
the same is true for genl_dump_check_consistent() which is the only caller
of genlmsg_nlhdr(). (Note that at the moment, these functions are only
used for families which do not have user header so that they are not
affected.)

Once an NFC target (i.e., a tag) is found, it remains active until
there is a failure reading or writing it (often caused by the target
moving out of range). While the target is active, the NFC adapter
and antenna must remain powered. This wastes power when the target
remains in range but the client application no longer cares whether
it is there or not.
To mitigate this, add a new netlink command that allows userspace
to deactivate an active target. When issued, this command will cause
the NFC subsystem to act as though the target was moved out of range.
Once the command has been executed, the client application can power
off the NFC adapter to reduce power consumption.

In all families that I found, genl_register_family() is only
called from __init functions (some indirectly, in which case
I've add __init annotations to clarifly things), so all can
actually be marked __ro_after_init.

Static family IDs have never really been used, the only
use case was the workaround I introduced for those users
that assumed their family ID was also their multicast
group ID.
Additionally, because static family IDs would never be
reserved by the generic netlink code, using a relatively
low ID would only work for built-in families that can be
registered immediately after generic netlink is started,
which is basically only the control family (apart from
the workaround code, which I also had to add code for so
it would reserve those IDs)
Thus, anything other than GENL_ID_GENERATE is flawed and
luckily not used except in the cases I mentioned. Move
those workarounds into a few lines of code, and then get
rid of GENL_ID_GENERATE entirely, making it more robust.
