Currently whenever link AP beacon is assigned, sdata->u.ap.active flag is
set and whenever it is brought down, the flag is reset. However, with MLO,
all the links of the same MLD would use the same sdata. Hence there is no
need to set/reset for each link up/down. Also, resetting it when only one
of the links went down is not desirable.
Add changes to set the active flag only when first link is assigned
beacon. Similarly, add changes to reset that flag only when last link is
brought down.

In the unlikely event that link_use_channel fails while activating a
link, mac80211 would go into a bad state. Unfortunately, we cannot
completely avoid failures from drivers in this case.
However, what we can do is to just continue internally anyway and assume
the driver is going to trigger a recovery flow from its side. Doing that
means that we at least have a consistent state in mac80211 allowing such
a recovery flow to succeed.

When searching for a chanctx for re-use, it's later adjusted and
assigned. It may also be that another one is already assigned to
the link in question, so unassign can also happen. In short, the
driver is called multiple times. During these callbacks, it may
thus change active links (on another interface), which then can
in turn cause the found chanctx (that's going to be reused) to
get removed and freed.
To avoid this, temporarily assign it to the reserved chanctx and
track the link that wants to use it in the reserved_links list.
This causes the ieee80211_chanctx_refcount() to be increased by
one during these operations, thus avoiding the free.

There's an issue in that when we disconnect from an AP
due to the AP switching to an unsupported channel, we
might not tell the driver about this before we try to
send the deauth. If the underlying implementation has
detected the quiet CSA, this may cause issues if this
is the only active link. Avoid this by transmitting
(and flushing) the deauth only when there's an active
link available that's not affected by quiet CSA.
Since this introduces link->u.mgd.csa_blocked_tx and we
no longer check sdata->csa_blocked_tx for the TX itself

If the AP removal timer is long, we don't really want to
remove the link immediately. However, we really should do
it _before_ the AP removes it (which happens at or after
count reaches 0), so subtract 1 from the countdown when
scheduling the timer. This causes the link removal work
to run just after the beacon with value 1 is received. If
the counter is already zero, do it immediately.
This fixes an issue where we do the removal too late and
receive a beacon from the AP that's no longer associated
with the MLD, but thus removed EHT and ML elements, and
then we disconnect instead from the whole MLD, since one
of the associated APs changed mode from EHT to HE.

If the AP mode ends up being determined less than the client mode,
there may be different reasons for this, e.g. AP misconfiguration.
If this happens in a way that causes e.g. EHT to be rejected, the
elements need to be re-parsed since we'll connect as HE, but not
reparsing means that we'll still think it's OK to use multi-link,
so we can connect in a non-sensical configuration of advertising
only HE on a secondary link. This normally won't happen for the
assoc link because that reuses the mode from authentication, and
if that's not EHT, multi-link association is rejected.
Fix this inconsistency by parsing the elements again if the mode
was different from the first parsing attempt. Print the message a
bit later to avoid printing "determined AP ... to be HE" twice in
cases where ieee80211_determine_ap_chan() returned a lesser mode,

fast_rx entry still holds a pointer to the VLAN's netdev, which can cause
use-after-free bugs. Fix this by immediately calling ieee80211_check_fast_rx

When doing CSA in multi-link, there really isn't a need to
stop transmissions entirely. Add a feature flag for drivers
to indicate they can handle quiet in CSA (be it by parsing
themselves, or by implementing drv_pre_channel_switch()),
to make that possible.
Also clean up the csa_block_tx handling: it clearly cannot
handle multi-link due to the way queues are stopped, move
it to the sdata. Drivers should be doing it themselves for
working properly during CSA in MLO anyway. Also rename it
to indicate that it reflects TX was blocked at mac80211.

We're currently tracking rx_nss for each station, and that
is meant to be initialized to the capability NSS and later
reduced by the operating mode notification NSS.
However, we're mixing up capabilities and operating mode
NSS in the same variable. This forces us to recalculate
the NSS capability on operating mode notification RX,
which is a bit strange; due to the previous fix I had to
never keep rx_nss as zero, it also means that the capa is
never taken into account properly.
Fix all this by storing the capability value, that can be
recalculated unconditionally whenever needed, and storing
the operating mode notification NSS separately, taking it
into account when assigning the final rx_nss value.

The new Wi-Fi Standard (IEEE Std 802.11-2020 9.4.2.160) specifies that
the Wide Bandwidth Channel Switch (WBCS) Element subfields have the same
definitions as VHT operation information if the operating band is not
S1G.
The problem comes when the BSS is in 6 GHz band, the STA parses the WBCS
Element by ieee80211_chandef_vht_oper(), which checks the capabilities for
HT/VHT mode, not HE/EHT mode.
This patch refactors STA CSA parsing flow so that the corresponding
capabilities can be checked. Also, it adds the way to use op_class in ECSA
Element to build a new chandef.
In summary, the new steps for STA to handle CSA event are:
1. build the new chandef from one of the CSA-related (Sub)Elements in
following order,
- Bandwidth Indication (Sub)Element
- Wide Bandwidth Channel Switch (Sub)Element
- Operating class in Extended Channel Switch Announcement Element
- Channel Switch Announcement Element
2. convert the new chandef into operation information according to the
operating band in order to check if the new chandef fits STA's
capabilities.
3. downgrade the bandwidth until current bandwidth is not disabled.

Some drivers may (notably mt76 does) not set up sband->band
before registering, and cfg80211 will fill it in later. But
since the HT/HE capability check mac80211 required it to be
initialized already, otherwise failing things. This really
isn't necessary though since the code is iterating the list
of bands, and has the 'band' variable available. Fix it to
not require the sband->band to be initialized already.

If intending to associate with a lower bandwidth, remove capabilities
related to 320 MHz from the EHT capabilities element. Also change the
EHT MCS-NSS set accordingly: if just reducing 320->160 or similar the
format doesn't change, just cut off the last bytes. If changing from
higher bandwidth to 20 MHz only EHT STA, adjust the format.
Note that this also requires adjusting the caller in mlme.c since the

the chandef, so that it's treated correctly. At the time, I

Move puncturing into the chandef, and adjust all the code

EHT requires that stations are able to participate in
wider bandwidth OFDMA, i.e. parse downlink OFDMA and
uplink OFDMA triggers when they're not capable of (or
not connected at) the (wider) bandwidth that the AP
is using. This requires hardware configuration, since
the entity responsible for parsing (possibly hardware)
needs to know the AP bandwidth.
To support this, change the channel request to have
the AP's bandwidth for clients, and track that in the
channel context in mac80211. This means that the same
chandef might need to be split up into two different
contexts, if the APs are different. Interfaces other
than client are not participating in OFDMA the same
way, so they don't request any AP setting.
Note that this doesn't introduce any API to split a
channel context, so that there are cases where this
might lead to a disconnect, e.g. if there are two
client interfaces using the same channel context, e.g.
both 160 MHz connected to different 320 MHz APs, and
one of the APs switches to 160 MHz.
Note also there are possible cases where this can be
optimised, e.g. when using the upper or lower 160 Mhz,
but I haven't been able to really fully understand the
spec and/or hardware limitations.
If, for some reason, there are no hardware limits on
this because the OFDMA (downlink/trigger) parsing is
done in firmware and can take the transmitter into
account, then drivers can set the new flag
IEEE80211_VIF_IGNORE_OFDMA_WIDER_BW on interfaces to
not have them request any AP bandwidth in the channel
context and ignore this issue entirely. The bss_conf
still contains the AP configuration (if any, i.e. EHT)
in the chanreq.

In the channel context code we have quite a few instances
of nested loops iterating the interfaces and then links.
Add a new for_each_sdata_link() macro and use it. Also,
since it's easier, convert all the loops and a few other
places away from RCU as we now hold the wiphy mutex
everywhere anyway.
This does cause a little bit more work (such as checking
interface types for each link of an interface rather than
not iterating links in some cases), but that's not a huge
issue and seems like an acceptable trade-off, readability
is important too.

For channel contexts, mac80211 currently uses the cfg80211
chandef struct (control channel, center freq(s), width) to
define towards drivers and internally how these behave. In
fact, there are _two_ such structs used, where the min_def
can reduce bandwidth according to the stations connected.
Unfortunately, with EHT this is longer be sufficient, at
least not for all hardware. EHT requires that non-AP STAs
that are connected to an AP with a lower bandwidth than it
(the AP) advertises (e.g. 160 MHz STA connected to 320 MHz
AP) still be able to receive downlink OFDMA and respond to
trigger frames for uplink OFDMA that specify the position
and bandwidth for the non-AP STA relative to the channel
the AP is using. Therefore, they need to be aware of this,
and at least for some hardware (e.g. Intel) this awareness
is in the hardware. As a result, use of the "same" channel
may need to be split over two channel contexts where they
differ by the AP being used.
As a first step, introduce a concept of a channel request
('chanreq') for each interface, to control the context it
requests. This step does nothing but reorganise the code,
so that later the AP's chandef can be added to the request
in order to handle the EHT case described above.

There are still surprisingly many non-chanctx drivers, but in
mac80211 that code is a bit awkward. Simplify this by having
those drivers assign 'emulated' ops, so that the mac80211 code
can be more unified between non-chanctx/chanctx drivers. This
cuts the number of places caring about it by about 15, which
are scattered across - now they're fewer and no longer in the
channel context handling.

In the code we currently check for support 80+80, 160
and 320 channel widths, but really the way this should
be (and is otherwise) handled is that we compute the
highest channel bandwidth given there, and then cut it
down to what we support. This is also needed for wider
bandwidth OFDMA support.

parse the highest possible channel width.

Rewrite the station-side connection handling. The connection
flags (IEEE80211_DISABLE_*) are rather confusing, and they're
not always maintained well. Additionally, for wider-bandwidth
OFDMA support we need to know the precise bandwidth of the AP,
which is currently somewhat difficult.
Rewrite this to have a 'mode' (S1G/legacy/HT/...) and a limit
on the bandwidth. This is not entirely clean because some of
those modes aren't completely sequenced (as this assumes in
some places), e.g. VHT doesn't exist on 2.4 GHz, but HE does.
However, it still simplifies things and gives us a good idea
what we're operating as, so we can parse elements accordingly
etc.
This leaves a FIXME for puncturing, this is addressed in a
later patch.

that some APs have ECSA elements stuck in their probe response,

we never connect to such an AP.
Improve this situation by checking more carefully and ignoring

being stuck in the probe response.
Additionally, allow connecting to an AP that's switching to a

fast-xmit must only be enabled after the sta has been uploaded to the driver,
otherwise it could end up passing the not-yet-uploaded sta via drv_tx calls
to the driver, leading to potential crashes because of uninitialized drv_priv

Commit ffbd0c8c1e ("wifi: mac80211: add an element parsing unit test")
and commit 730eeb17bb ("wifi: cfg80211: add first kunit tests, for
element defrag") add new configs that depend on !KERNEL_6_2, but the config
option KERNEL_6_2 does not exist in the tree. This dependency is used for
handling backporting to restrict the option to certain kernels but this
really should not be carried around the mainline kernel tree.
Clean up this needless dependency on the non-existing option KERNEL_6_2.

During ieee80211_set_active_links() we do (among the others):
1. Call drv_change_vif_links() with both old_active and new_active
2. Unassign the chanctx for the removed link(s) (if any)
3. Assign chanctx to the added link(s) (if any)
4. Call drv_change_vif_links() with the new_active links bitmap
The problem here is that during step #1 the driver doesn't know whether
we will activate multiple links simultaneously or are just doing a link
switch, so it can't check there if multiple links are supported/enabled.
(Some of the drivers might enable/disable this option dynamically)
And during step #3, in which the driver already knows that,
returning an error code (for example when multiple links are not
supported or disabled), will cause a warning, and we will still complete
the transition to the new_active links.
(It is hard to undo things in that stage, since we released channels etc.)
Therefore add a driver callback to check if the desired new_active links
will be supported by the driver or not. This callback will be called
in the beginning of ieee80211_set_active_links() so we won't do anything
before we are sure it is supported.

When reporting the radiotap timestamp, the mactime field is
usually unused, we take the data from the device_timestamp.
However, there can be cases where the radiotap timestamp is
better reported as a 64-bit value, so since the mactime is
free, add a flag to support using the mactime as a 64-bit

It is possible for the TX status report for the (Re)Association Request
frame to be delayed long enough for the AP's (Re)Association Response
frame to be received and processed before it. If that were to happen for
a case where the AP rejects the association with indication to come back
later, the association timeout and retry state should not be modified
anymore with the TX status information that would be processed after
this. Updating the association timeout in such a reverse order of events
could result in shortening the timeouts for the association comeback
mechanism and that could result in the association failing.
Track whether we have already processed association rejection with
comeback time and if so, skip the timeout and retry update on any
following TX status report.

Declaration is '.. c:function:: void ieee80211_tx_status (struct ieee80211_hw *hw, struct sk_buff *skb)'.
This is because there's a function named ieee80211_tx_status() and a struct named
ieee80211_tx_status. This has been discussed previously but no solution found:
https://lore.kernel.org/all/20220521114629.6ee9fc06@coco.lan/
There's also a bug open for three years with no solution in sight:
https://github.com/sphinx-doc/sphinx/pull/8313
So I guess we have no other solution than to a workaround this in the code,
for example to rename the function to ieee80211_tx_status_skb() to avoid the
name conflict. I got the idea for the name from ieee80211_tx_status_noskb() in
which the skb is not provided as an argument, instead with
ieee80211_tx_status_skb() the skb is provided.

When using e.g. bonding, and doing a sequence such as
# iw wlan0 set type __ap
# ip link add name bond1 type bond
# ip link set wlan0 master bond1
# iw wlan0 interface del
we deadlock, since the wlan0 interface removal will cause
bonding to reset the MAC address of wlan0.
The locking would be somewhat difficult to fix, but since
this only happens during removal, we can simply ignore the
MAC address change at this time.

Prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang of the __counted_by
attribute. Flexible array members annotated with __counted_by can have
their accesses bounds-checked at run-time via CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS (for
array indexing) and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE (for strcpy/memcpy-family
functions).
While there, use struct_size() helper, instead of the open-coded
version, to calculate the size for the allocation of the whole
flexible structure including, of course, the flexible-array member.

When this flow is invoked with the "drop" parameter as true,
we only drop the frames from the hw queues, but not from the
sw queues.
So when we call wake_queues() after hw queue purging, all the
frames from the sw queues will be TX'ed,
when what we actually want to do is to purge all queues
in order to not TX anything...
This can cause, for example, TXing data frames to the peer
after the deauth frame was sent.

When the remain on channel is removed at the time it should
have expired, we have a race: the driver could be handling
the flow of the expiration while mac80211 is cancelling
that very same remain on channel request.
This wouldn't be problem in itself, but since mac80211
can send the next request to the driver in the cancellation
flow, we can get to the following situation:
CPU0 CPU1
expiration of roc in driver
ieee80211_remain_on_channel_expired()
Cancellation of the roc
schedules a worker (hw_roc_done)
Add next roc
hw_roc_done_wk runs and ends
the second roc prematurely.
Since, by design, there is only one single request sent to the
driver at a time, we can safely assume that after the cancel()
request returns from the driver, we should not handle any worker
that handles the expiration of the request.
Cancel the hw_roc_done worker after the cancellation to make
sure we start the next one with a clean slate.

In MLO, we have a per-link debugfs directory which contains the
per-link files. In case of non-MLO we would like to put the per-link
files in the netdev directory to keep it how it was before MLO.
- Upon interface creation the netdev will be created with the per-link
files in it.
- Upon switching to MLO: delete the entire netdev directory and then
recreate it without the per-link files. Then the per-link directories
with the per-link files in it will be created in ieee80211_link_init()
- Upon switching to non-MLO: delete the entire netdev directory
(including the per-link directories) and recreate it with the per-link
files in it.
Note that this also aligns to always call the vif link debugfs
method for the deflink as promised in the documentation, which

Add a callback which the driver can use to add the vif debugfs.
We used to have this back until commit d260ff12e7 ("mac80211:
remove vif debugfs driver callbacks") where we thought that it
will be easier to just add them during interface add/remove.
However, now with multi-link, we want to have proper debugfs
for drivers for multi-link where some files might be in the
netdev for non-MLO connections, and in the links for MLO ones,
so we need to do some reconstruction when switching the mode.
Moving to this new call enables that and MLO drivers will have
to use it for proper debugfs operation.
