Allowing userspace to intercept reads to x2APIC MSRs when APICV is fully enabled for the guest simply can't work. But more in general, the LAPIC could be set to in-kernel after the MSR filter is setup and allowing accesses by userspace would be very confusing. We could in principle allow userspace to intercept reads and writes to TPR, and writes to EOI and SELF_IPI, but while that could be made it work, it would still be silly. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
